Mystery Pain/ TOM??

After I had my bowel obstruction surgery on March 16th, I developed a weird pain on my right side, right below my ribcage.  I went back for a checkup in mid to late April and had a cat scan and Dr. Anthone said everything looked good, just might have something to do with the onset of my period.  Weird.

Okay, so fast forward a month.  I decided to take it a little easier and the pain pretty much went away.  Now last weekend, the pain was back.  It's a stabbing type of a pain, and when I sneeze or blow my nose, it hurts.  Kind of like a pulled muscle or something like that.  Well, what do you know, I started my period today and the pain is worse, and I'm having major cramps.

Has anyone noticed something like this with their TOM after surgery?  I really hope this doesnt happen every month, but at least I can find relief knowing it's not something else in there.  Anyone?

Do you still have your galbladder? It sounds like the pain I had when I had severe galstones.

No, because he removed that when I had my original DS surgery.  This pain is on the right side, somewhere under the ribcage, to a little bit lower.  It does come and go, but more often when I've done some type of strenuous activity.  And of course, I can't find where I hid my remaining pain pills that Dr. A prescribed me with my bowel obstruct surgery.  Damn.

Wow that sounds exactly like the pain I have.  I am two weeks late for my TOM (impossible to be prego). The sneezing and coughing thing is right on.
I did not have an obstruction surgery but I did have my DS open, and a week later had LAP exploratory surgery, for severe right side pain. I am 6 weeks out. I don't see my surgeon until next week.
I look forward to hearing what others here have to say.
Thanks for posting.

It could be endometriosis. Usually that will cause pelvic pain, but the endometrial tissue sometimes migrates higher into the abdomen or even the chest and can cause pain in those places too.

Here are two other thoughts.  Maybe, just being fresh out of surgery, like the two of us are, we are having issues with scar tissue healing and the TOM just aggravates it?  I'm not sure.

The other thought is I've just recently (gasp!) started drinking Diet Coke again.  I did notice the pain to be much stronger last night about an hour or two after drinking the pop.  It is a burning, ripping type of a pain, and I felt it on both sides last night.

Well I haven't been brave enough to try the soda thing yet.  with all these complications I"m trying to walk the straight and narrow until I get past them.  I'll be glad when I can say I'm back to "normal".  One day.... one day....
