OMG. Nice find. This is a true disaster. Geez..... What in the hell is the problem? Honestly. This is unbelievable.  Thank God this site exists.... otherwise, the DS population would be extinct. :(

I'd also note, there is currently no calcium citrate chewable that I am aware of... what were they referring to? Citracal has a chewable, but it isn't calcium citrate. Geez...

Second, they are prophylactically recommending ursodiol for 6 months. That isn't a good idea nor a common practice because it interfers with fat soluble vitamin absorption. Sign me up for a one-way ticket to osteoporosis and night-blindness please.. check!

Gallstone formation occurs in ~30% of the population after malabsorptive surgery; metabolic bone disease occurs in more than 70-80% of the DS population after surgery.
In fact, markers of bone breakdown are evidenced as early as 8 weeks after surgery... they should consider the risk:benefit ratio.

No ursodiol... if you develop gallstones, the gallbladder can be removed safely.

If this is the information you get, I'd change physicians. No offense. This is scary.

Nice find LEVITTOWN. :)

sorry, Bariatric Advantage and Celebrate do offer chewable calcium citrate, but I do not believe Citracal does. Might be wrong tho!
