Anyone else have to do a liquid diet for the first month after surgery?
My surgeon is the same one Mindee had...and yeap, 30 days of liquids followed by 30 days of soft foods, then 30 days getting to normal before you can eat an unrestricted diet...a total of 90 days before getting on your regular plan.
However, my dh was on soft foods the day he left the hospital and moved thru quickly to regular foods with no issues...having seen what he did, I pushed myself ahead to soft at one week out and have been eating normally for over 3 months and I am not yet 5 months out, more like 4 1/2. So I did 6 weeks from full liquids to regular foods.
Now, I did not add salads and stuff like that til I was closer to 3 months out and went slowly, adding one ingredient at a time. I had been eating lettuce and tomato okay so I started there.
And I was in for two nights as well...

No that seems a bit extreme to me, I would have died of starvation! Also only 1 night in the hospital? My surgeon wanted me released after 2 nights which I felt was way too short, but I had a few minor issues like I couldnt go to the bathroom so had to have my catheter put back in etc so it ended up being a few day stay.
I was on 30 days liquid after surgery, just like the other 2 Boyce patients who posted here. It varies from dr to dr. It really sucked, but I would have been scared to eat normal food quicker than that. I also stayed for 3 days. One night is crazy!! There's no way I would have felt comfortable or even safe going home after only 1 night.
