Nope!  Labcorp files with my insurance and then after they've paid they send me the bill for my portion.

Ahhh . . . I would have to check with my ins company, but where do you go to actually get your blood drawn?  I guess I'm assuming Labcorp is just a business that assays blood, but they don't have local sites to draw the blood - is that right?

They do have local sites for blood draw. Though I have to go to another town to get it, it is a lot cheaper than using the lab at the local hospital.

Their website has a "find a lab" page: https://www.labcorp.com/wps/portal/findalab

I can see having labs done quarterly if you have problems.  If you don't, I think 25K per year in labs is OTT and carrying it a bit too far.  I believe my surgeon is sensible.  He said to do the first labs at 6 months and then once a year.  That has worked well for me.  I am very vigiliant on the supplements and probably take too many.  I just figure that's cheaper than dealing with the problems.

I usually order my own labs and go to the lab to get my blood drawn.  I think that saves some money too.  A little less processing.  Mine were about 2K last time I had it done.

I'm all about saving $$!  How do you order your own labs?  I had to give the hospital lab (which I won't go to next time) the signed lab order from the dr.

I went to a local lab that advertised you could order your own tests.  But I think they were really thinking about tests for HIV or STDs.  They were quite surprised when they saw what I wanted.

Meanwhile, the lab I used last year is gone and I have to find a new one.

I insisted my lab slip be written out for all the labs that VL has on her list even tho the surgeon I went to said they may not be all covered and I could get a bill for $500 or so because I wasn't sympomatic of deficiences. I took my chances and went to LAB CORP and they did comment they would be billing my insurance $2,600 for them. When I looked on my online healthcare provider site I could see I would have a balance somewhat over $100 so I was a bit relieved.  They sure vary out there, don't they?? JEEEESH!

Okay, that just gave me heartburn!

This is really good info to know before hand.  It won't make a difference in my decision to have the surgery, but it's nice to know going in what expenses can be on a yearly basis.  Thanks!

I guess I shouldn't complain about my labs costing $226 here in Australia, and I get about $190 back from my insurance.
