Dehydration even before I got switched!
I've been fighting pyelonephritis for about 2 weeks now and the infection seems to be gone. But with all the nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea I've been having, it was just too much for my body. The last 2 days I've been feeling worse...aching, severe nausea....a general "I feel really bad but I don't know why" feeling. Went to the ER....vitals at triage...HR 136, BP- 159/119, O2 Sat- 99%.
They took me back to an ER room immediately and started an IV, turning the flow on wide open. After the first bag my vitals we HR- 114, BP- 149/91. They started a second bag of fluids, once again wide open flow. When that finished my vitals were HR-86, BP- 130/74.
They then started a 3rd bag again full open flow. The nurse said that even though my vitals were improving, they wanted me to pee. Finally, when the 3rd bag was through, I was able to make urine. The released me with anti-nausea meds, and anti-diarrhea meds.
Having experienced severe dehydration, I can say with confidence that I never want to experience it again. Although I became dehydrated through no fault of my own, it has definitely given me a wake-up call to try to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Sounds like you have a decent ER close by and that's a good thing. I'm sorry you've been so sick. I hope you're feeling better.

Thanks gina and Jainie. I will do my upmost not to go thru that again. It was rough feeling bad and not knowing why. I would never have never thought dehydration makes a person feel like that. But in a weird sense, I'm kind of glad I suffered thru it before I get switched. Now I know what it feels like and will hopefully be able to recognize it if it occurs again.
