HADS - Party 7/9/11

 It's almost here!!!!!    

Lestica has graciously offered her home and pool for us to enjoy!!!  

She is having a Pool Party and Pot Luck dinner on Saturday, July 9th starting @ 4:00 PM!!  

Please let me know ASAP if you will be joining us - and how many people (spouses/children/etc...).  

Bring your lawn-chair and towel - and a 'DS friendly' dish to share!!  

We are a very friendly and supportive group.  New members, PLEASE come and join in the fun!!  

Remember, we are all at different places in our journey.... pre-ops, newbies, some are at/near goal and some are years post-op!!   No need to feel self-conscious about how you look in a bathing suit!!!  This is the time and place to "let it all hang out"! 

Look forward to seeing everyone next Saturday!!!

Oh, I know I could make it to Houston for the weekend, but not sure how I'll make it back to Austin for my follow up with the PS on the 13th.  I'd have to drive, and...yuck.  3 hrs without plastics pain is bad enough.

I'm having a good day so far.  Changed clothes and gave myself a sponge bath...haha, it's the little things :)

I just nap and watch tv all day, and take pain meds every 4 hours.  I wish those suckers were stronger! And I have both parents here to cater to my every whim...which doesn't suck :)

Just waiting for this swelling to go down.  Both of my legs are pretty swollen too.  But I'm alive and I have some work to do with my insurance company.  I have no idea if they'll cover my complications.  If not I'll have to work something out with the hospital.

Yep - no doubt this is a little soon after your surgery.   Bummer!!

I had no idea you had or were having surgery.  I do hope you are feeling ok...from your post it sounds like you had some complications.  Hope everything is ok. 

Hang in there...it will be worth it.  I wish I could have plastics...you are so lucky.  Keep the faith and call the doc if the pain meds aren't strong enough,  I bet all you have to do is ask.

Take care of yourself.  If there is anything I can do let me know.

I had an LBL w/ vertical incision on Tuesday and ended up having some random bleeding on wednesday, lost a lot of blood and had to go back into surgery late wednesday to stop the bleeding, but I'd already bled so much that I needed a blood transfusion and 4 units of blood :(  It suuucked, but I'm good now :)  no worries!

Just glad to be out of the hospital.  I really friggin' hate that place.  Even though their food was amazing.

OMG...I had no idea.  Good grief.  Actually the transfusions aren't too bad and usually they make you feel a little better.  I had a couple after my knee surgery and they really helped me get over the hump.  I'm so sorry that had to happen to you.  Sounds like all is well now. 

Which hospital were you in?  If it is that somewhat new one in We Lake they will just charge you what your insurance will charge...of course if they want you to pay out of pocket...I have no idea what to say.  Seems like my charges for my resleeve all going to be all on me and I'm broke.  My dog got into my back door neighbor's yard and they have a Mastiff...he's a Yorkie all 5 lbs of him and broke his jaw and left front leg.  He's on the mend but damn the doctor bills....I'll be paying till I'm 95,  same with the docs and hospital for me.

Continue to take care of yourself and heal...you are gonna be one hot mamacita when this is all done...woo hoo!

How come the resleeve is on you?  I thought you were approved ahead of time?

So sorry to hear about your doggie...sounds horrible!

I was hoping to already be done with the doctor's bills since I pre-paid in cash after saving forever for plastics.  Sucks if I get saddled with another huge bill.  They are going to go ahead and still file the complications with insurance, but really who knows.  If not I'll have to call and negotiate.  When I called about my bill the automated line said $50,000!  lol  They charged me $3,600 for my 1 night, then 50k for the next 2. 

My PS said he hasn't had to go in for another surgery in like 8 yrs, but I guess his luck was up (and so was mine).  Oh well.  It'll all end up ok I guess. 

I know you are young and don't want to ruin your credit...but don't pay that much.  Negotiate what you can afford and pay that.  Of course you will have to pay it out but don't ever pay full price.

Medicare doesn't let you get pre approval.  So according to the doc it was supposed to pay...and it didin't.  It didn't pay a thing.  I haven't gotten a bill yet but there's no way I can pay over $24,000 plus what all the other doctors are charging.  Their prices are ridiculous...maybe I can pay 20% of a discounted amount...who knows.  I'm old and I may walk on the bill...I don't like doing that but I went into this thing thinking Medicare would pay based on what the doc said.  So I'll just wait and see what happens.

Negotiate, negotiate like hell...don't pay full price...nobody does..certainly not the insurance company.

Continue to take care of yourself and I will take care of my dog...who by they way I'm paying his bills out, so eventually we can all be debt free and we can get together again soon.  Who did your surgery?

Oh yes, I tried the protein cake and it was not the best but I know what I did...it wasn't wet enough to begin with...I'll try it again.  I ate most of it anyway and it was pretty good even though it was kinda grainy...I'll do better next time.  Thanks for the directions.
