I work at a health clinic and we already know medicare patients can't pay for the leftover stuff, so I think if he took the risk taking you on as a patient, he should have probably be expecting this and he may end up writing off the debt for a clean sweep. I know the clinic I work at writes off a lot of bad debt from medicare and medicaid patients. Plus, we're really nice, so I'm pretty sure that we'll even accept $20/mo payments and as long as the accounts stay current, the patients don't end up getting turned over to collections. Maybe his hospital and his billing co will do something similar. I mean, you'll have to explain you're on a fixed income, they really should "get" that.
