Hematology Update
Lisey, I'm really sorry to hear how much this sucks for you but I do think you are getting closer to some answers, even if there's a lot of frustration along the way. I think you are right that the infusions are a necessary event at this point--you'll know more after you see how your body reacts to them. I was told by my hemo & PA yesterday that it's not that unusual to have a good ferritin number but have iron deficiency anemia--and as you obviously already know, inflammation can play a part in that.
I was also told that infusions might reveal something more serious going on--for example, an infusion and improvement in numbers followed by a quick drop probably means I'm losing blood and need to have someone figure out where. So I do think you are probably getting pretty standard treatment, even if the guy does seem like he wants to blame your WLS for everything. Keep on him and keep making him look at the other possibilities! Good luck wtih all of this.
