Found "lumps" in my neck :(

My ex husband had Hodgkins disease.  We had decided to seperate and he got his results back the next day as positive for Hodgkins disease.  He was in Stage 3 due to the doctor not taking the biopsy and him it was nothing, 9  months before, so they can argue... it made my ex's cancer a lot worse, it had nothing to WLS but he was told that the biopasy wasn't necessary and the cancer progressed... (so definatelly insist on having one done) In his case despite reach stage 3 he made a full recovery thank God.  Hang in there, I hope you get good news.  You can post or PM me if you have questions,  Despite us having decided to seperate we continued to live together and I helped him through Chemo and treatments so I'm pretty familiar with this from a layman's perspective so feel free to PM me or post here if you want to talk.

Thank you very much.  Did he have symptoms or bloodwork that also indicated Hodgin's?  My biggest fear is not having a biopsy (lets "watch it" . . um, let's not!).  Thanks, Lisey

Not initially... he found the initial lump in his neck in November of 2007  saw his PCP about it who rightfully reccomended he biopsy it just in case... reffered him to an ENT, who said its no big deal no biopsy needed and he had no reason to not believe him.

He started getting symptoms around February of 2008... His worst one was the night sweats and the constant low grade fever... he'd litterally wake up drenched... by May he went back to his PCP (He tends to avoid doctors) and his PCP was livid that the ENT didn't do the biopsy,  I never seen a doctor so openly angry about another doctor's decision in my life... it was just a needle but it would have given enough  information to know to do more... he immediately ordered a PT scan after my ex told him all the symptoms he was having and he got a call within an hour of having that done with a scheduled surgical biopsy.  The symptoms got worse as the time went on, and nearly disappeared after his 2nd chemo treatment (Ofcourse he had the chemo side effects so was still miserable )

Thank you for your reply.  I was afraid that might be the case.  I would hope given my other symptoms that fit, that they would definitely order it, but that definitely is my biggest fear right now.

Hang in there... and insist on the biopsy... you have enough symptoms that it makes sense to check it out, so I'm sure you'll be able to get it even if you have to push for it.

I'm not dismissing your conclusions at all when I say, it could just be cysts or calcium deposits. Like you, when I first could see and feel something other than fat, I found all kinds of lumps and bumps.

Luckily for me all were either incapsilated cysts, cellulite, calcium deposits in my thyroid and just odd bits the doctor dismissed. He told me I've always had this odd pieces buried under my smooth and dimple free fat I just couldn't see of free them before.

I understand!  While I'm certainly not hoping to have it, I think I have so many symptoms & lab work that are consistent with it, it's fairly likely for me.

I don't think you are going to have a problem getting the biopsy given the other symptoms you have.  Try not to worry about things ahead of time.  You know how to advocate for yourself and even if the surgeon you see refuses to do it you can always see another surgeon.

Just my .02.

Swinging what I got for you.

Knowing is better than not. That said, I sincerely hope it's just an odd gathering of lumpy bits with no evil intent. Please continue to post about your situation. Not only am I interested and concerned, I'm learning a lot. Critters in motion. *hugs*
