You are such a liar... I was not EVER denied by my insurance company for a DS.... you make up lies and post them on this board to make yourself look good, but you just look stupid!! I have not ever got a denial of any sorts for WLS. I was approved for RNY after 3 days.... it was the only type of WLS applied for since it was the ONLY TYPE they will even consider. I do not understand your ugliness and rudeness. Back a few weeks ago when you posted that LIE, I called you on that one too. I know exactly where I stand regarding WLS. I have not EVER swayed on that. You really need to stop this personal attack on me it has become quite annoying and is DOWNRIGHT HARRASSMENT!! You I do not understand you at all..... I am HELPING YOU OUT in another post (the fibromyalgia post) and yet I have to come to this post to DEFEND MYSELF FROM YOUR ATTACKS!! Why are you always attacking me??? THIS IS A SUPPORT SITE - IF YOU CANNOT BE SUPPORT AND STOP HARRASSING OTHER PEOPLE YOU SHOULD GO HOME!!!!! IF YOU CONTINUE TO HARRASS ME I WILL TAKE ACTION....

Um....a "troll" is a person that comes onto a particular internet group and makes controversial remarks to intentionally stir.......oh....nevermind.... LeaAnn Preebie

I have NOT said or done anything wrong... so you have no right to label me a *troll* or anything else. And if you would bother to read everything you would see that I am offering help and support to Ms Batt in one post and yet having to defend myself from her attacks on this thread... I am NOT the one stirring anything ..... get your facts straight, instead of just jumping on the band wagon of attacking others.

Melissa, I actually looked up information you provided ealier. In the little amount of time I had I made my decision based on some of the good information you provided and sites from Diana and a few other people. thanks. you are right so many people on here are enthusiastic and i love that. however, i've ran across some who do print the fairy tale info in order to convert someone to ds instead of rny. i didn't want that and that is why i stated it. i wanted and need quick and hard truths. back in 99 there was no reason to research DS as it was not available to me... but i wanted all i could get on rny good and bad. so i wanted the same for a DS. I want this to be my last surgery so I need to know the truth. I certainly am not trying to stir up trouble cause I don't have time for that. I wanted to get real information from people who could give me pros and cons. ronnie

Honestly, having now had the surgery experience myself, everything I've heard about all WLS seems like fairy tales when you're early out. I was prepared, researched and ready. I asked for the surgery. I fought for it! But it was still more difficult than I had anticipated. I had tackled my eating issues, so it's not a matter of whining because I am not eating volumes of foods; it's just that feeling of "will I ever ...?" So it's all about taking it a day at a time. I will always tell the truth because I think it's really important. One must truly have his/her head on straight before making this commitment. I can only speak with my voice about my experience, so I do my best not to blow smoke up people's butts. It is so personal a decision. We've all been a little defensive since the onslaught of negativity from people who do not -- or don't care to -- get us. Believe me, we're a good group and we're always here for those who need and want us.

Thanks Melissa. Frankly, I dont' think posts like this one should be responded to at all. Let them do their own research.

how mean and selfish. do you realize that if it wasn't for the internet most people would not know about DS. if people didn't share things like this a whole bunch of people that may have surgeries that aren't right for them. being the type of person i am, i would have found the information, but not all people are as savvy or determined or have the time. i am very thankful for those that lead me in the right direction. we all know there are some people who stretch the truth and can't be objective. i was really stating i didn't want info from those type of people. i found melissa's information informative and helpful and i'm glad she doesn't mind sharing. i just realized what you are really saying is that you don't want to tell others about DS... keep it elite. There are some RNY'ers who I am sure don't know. I certainly didn't know that now RNY has some major problems/issues and I will tell anyone about all the surgeries instead of trying to keep it to myself.

No, what I am saying is when you come on this board following several days of bashing by RNY'ers (on our DS board) and repeat things like "Some of the posts here seem so mean spirited and some just downright wrong," and "I don't want the fairy tales or the meaness..." you are in fact starting something -- perhaps you really do want information, but Apple Pie's response to Melissa above was just more of the same. Sorry I over-reacted. You do appear to be sincere. Some people who have had the RNY and then come over here to post are not. Personally, if I could shout the information about DS from the rooftops, I would. I think it's terrible that others cannot get accurate information about this surgery from their own doctors, the way I did. I was very, very lucky. Again, sorry, mea culpa!!
