I am a 38 yr. old mother of a 9 yr. old boy and I have a hubby that I adore who is pretty much on-board with my decision to have gastric bypass surgery in the coming weeks. We've been together for 16+ yrs. and there's nothing we haven't been through, except weight loss.
I am diabetic and tired of feeling the way I feel. I'm super insulin resistant, on too much medication , and need to make this happen to get to a better place in my life.
My hubby is also extremely overweight, tipping the scales at about 370, so he needs a boost but isn't getting the one I am, unfortunately. Together, we're gonna make this happen for our family, and hopefully along the way he will catch the fever, start to get healthy and feel better about himself, too.
If you're looking for someone open minded and friendly to chat w/ about your experiences w/ surgery, life, love, marriage, kids, or whatever, just hit me up. I"m a Christian, but not a judgemental person, and I love life, good friends, being serious when life calls for it, and a little bit of sarcasm along the way.
Let me know if you need a friend.

ello,
I just had my surgery on the 25th of July. I have lost a total of 40 lbs. as of today. The surgery is a breeze, if you're getting laproscopy done. Dr. Campos' is a wonderful doctor! He is very kind, concerned, considerate, great bedside manners.
My pre-op was an all liquicd diet for 2 weeks, that was getting kind of boring but then the date came up and all was good. I'm was on liquid diet 1 week after surgery (mostly prostien shakes) then moved on to pureed foods. I'll be honest I don't like prueed foods, just not the same...hahaha. I'm seeing my nutritionist next tuesday hopefully will go on to soft foods. If you have any kind of questions ask away... I'll answer to the best i can.
Julie
P.S. good luck on your pre-op plan and future surgery :)

Good Morning,
My name is Ann I am 63 and live in the Chicagoland area married 43 yrs with 2 kids n 4 grdkids. I don't know but I believe in destiny that I saw your post I never come in here joined but never found anyone to chat with but decided to try again and here you where....I have been lacking a support group cause there are not any in the area doesn't make sense to me since there are so many of us out there.
I had the band placed 2-18-09 weighed 278 then ersoion 11-4-10 had it taken out weight 199......was so depressed just needed time to decide what my next step would be by Oct2011, I was up to 240 I knew I needed a tool to help me I just couldn't do this myself. I went back to Dr. Myers Rush Chicago and had the sleeve done 12-12-10 weight 230 so it went great but I had a heel spur removed in Jan 2011 the operation did not go so well it left me with nerve pain in rt foot so in March2012 I weighed 199 today Aug 16 I weigh 197 I have been sitting this whole time and managed to maintain so that is a miracle since I haven't been walking. Wed: Aug 22nd I am have a SCS implanted in my body its like a pacemaker for pain Spinal Cord Stym box I had the trial wk and it worked I was pain free for the first time in 18 mos all I could do was cry tears of happiness......
so now they are going to implant it perm next Wed: I hate surgery!!!! I am starting to get allergic to hospitals....really I think by now you feel that way too..... I dread the pain but this pain will be controlled by the morphine where the pain in foot is nerve pain nothing I mean nothing worked on that pain so I am in pain now again in my foot stabbing burning nerve pain but know this time next wk the problem will be gone and I can then recover from surgery and start walking and losing again. I still have to give myself some credit I did not gain I could of grazed myself up 50 plus by just sitting and sitting these last 18 months.

Topic: Failed Lapband, Sleeve Revision
Hi there. I haven't been here in a while and don't know why I'm here today except that God nudged me and told me to get here. So, maybe I need a pen pal.
I was banded in November of 2005, had a port infection, had the port removed, scheduled to have the port replaced a few months later, new fiscal year and my insurance didn't pay for bariatric surgery. Appealed and got the replacement only to have the port get infected again a couple of years later. Its now OUT. I have the band and the tubing but no port. And I don't want one.
Even though I researched the band for 2 years before I had my surgery, I now know the band is not for me. I like the aspect of refills should I need them in the far off future. However, I wasn't thinking of the copay every time I crossed thru the doctor's door. For me, it was $30 (at the time) and that goes up every year.
So, I'm steadily gaining weight. I know what to do and how to do it. I just don't know how to push myself to get it done. Maybe a few pen pals can keep me on the straight and narrow.
I'm an old retired lady who will be eligible for medicare soon and I'll have coverage for the sleeve. So if we have anything at all in common (and we all do if we've had or are hoping to have surgery), please consider sending me an email and let's "chat". Maybe I can help you with some little tid bit I have, as well.
