Dr. NYE or Dr. LORD
Hi Connie,
Dr. Lord did my surgery on March 8,2006.
Lap.RNy. I felt he was the best doctor. I did alot of searching and reading on both doctors. I would go to the Bariatric Surgeons site here on the left and click on each doctor and read their profiles, read about where the studied ,how long they went to school, their degrees ect...
If I had to, I would have the surgery again tomorrow But only if Dr. Lord was doing the surgery. He is a wonderful surgeon.
Dr. Lord will go through all your medical history. Answer all your questions and put any fears you may have about the surgery at rest.
He is truely a Godsend for those of us in need of his surgery skills.
I did attend Dr. Nyes simminar, 2 times. I went to Dr. Lords 2 times also. For me Dr. Lord was the BEST.
Personally If there had not been another doctor in this area , I probably would have waited until there was. Maybe it was a personality clash. I don't think so. My opinion.
Best Wishes and prayers to you,
Karen Pensacola FL
I do not know if this will make any difference to you but since you are a Navy wife it might. Dr. Lord was a Navy surgeon. He practiced at the Navy Hospital at Portsmouth Va if I am not mistaken and moved to Florida last year. Sometimes it is very helpful to be dealing with someone who has a clear understanding of the unique problems and issues facing a military family. My DH is retired AF so I know that many times it does make a difference.

Hi Connie,
You're doing the right thing by doing a lot of research and going to the seminars, etc. I spent two years doing the same. WHen I first started my research Dr. Lord was not in the area yet. I didn't feel comfortable about having the other doctors in the area doing my surgery, and I was looking into traveling elsewhere to a surgeon who had a good reputation. I then heard that Dr. Lord was coming to town so began researching his background, experience, eductation, etc. His reputation preceeds him! I followed the advice of my doctor to wait until Dr. Lord came to the area before making up my mind as he was one of the best. I waited and went to one of his first seminars and a few since then. As you can see by my profile I did choose him to be my surgeon. I'm just now getting to the point of going through all my presurgery testing, etc., so I am still preop at this point, but I would highly recommend Dr. Lord to anyone deciding upon the surgery.

Hi,
I am new to this site (joined today). I am going to Dr. Caylor in Foley, AL. He performs the lap band surgery. I am excited about having the lap band because the recovery time is less, the loss of vitamins is less, and it can me filled for needs in the future without reopening you abdomen. Before you have expensive re-routing please check into his program. He is very particular and nice to deal with.
I dont know Dr. Lord. but I would look into him if I had to chose between the two.
thanks donna
Connie, Dr. Nye did my surgery almost 4 years ago. I have had no problems whatsoever and live the most normal life you can imagine. I lost down to my personal goal...I have had no weight gain and no problems with any complications. I take my vitamins religiously and hardly ever think about the surgery. My scar has faded to nothing.
Dr. Nye is very good. He has A LOT of experience, over 2,500 successful weight loss surgeries. His office staff is very caring and his follow-up care is one of the best around.
Dr. Nye has been around P'cola longer and Dr. Lord is new to the area. Take your pick from I've heard it is matter of personal preference.
Best of luck!
Patty
