Hi, I know that with wls you are not supposed to eat breads etc. Is it ok to eat low carb stuff? I eat a small bowl of low carb "Special K" in the morning. They sell so many low carb foods. I just wanted to make sure that eating something like this is not bad. Thanks, Candice Colkitt Lehigh Acres, FL

No this is not bad candice, you are a year out from surgery and maintaining. You just want to keep the protein up. Due to th malabsorption, you will still need 2-3 protein shakes a day. So for instance, you get up,take a protein drink with your vitamins, then eat some special k low carb, you are still following the protein rule first. We just don't want carbs to over rule us again! How are you doing in maintenance? blessings, tami

Girl, you're right on the $$$$$$$$$$$. I've been having low sugar problems due to lack of eating #1, and then trying NOT to eat carbs....but then when I saw the doc today he was telling me to eat one slice of wheat bread - and I was saying - but that's carbs and he was telling we need the carbs - so I guess I need to add some healthy carbs like one slice of wheat bread and healthy low carb cereals (w/o milk) so long as we can maintain and control the portions/amounts. Great queston!
