I developed an Inflamation at the Bottom of my Hernia Incission.

Well when I got up Sunday morning the Inflamation had spread but still the firmest at the bottom of the Incission where my Hernia was repaired. It now hurt when sitting & walking. So I put Hot Compress on it and a pain pill and just layed down the rest of Sunday. So I called Dr.Rehnke's office Monday morning to learn they don't open till 9AM. So I went to Dr.Rehnke's office. But to only find out that Dr.R and his assistant Julia, were out of the Country till the weekend. I was sent to my Primary, Dr.Kern's office. Which hesitantly (as I was thinking - telling me this was a problem for Dr.Rehnke). They took me in, did my stats and Dr.Kern sent me home for bed rest with a prescription of Cephalexin 500MG - 4 times a day till gone. I will return to see Dr.Kern on Thursday. I have my next appointment with Dr.Rehnke on Monday, June 12th. If I had known Dr.Rehnke was out of the country, I probably would have gone straight to St.Pete General Hospital Emergency Room. So if it does get worst, I guess I call Dr.Kern to decide for the Emergency Room or Do I just go there? Any other suggestions??

Hi Michael, Who is covering for Dr. Rehnke while his is out of the country? His service should know. If it gets worse, do not pass go, "just" go to the ER. I hope that you feel better. Kristen

Wound Update: I started draining from the Inflamaed area last night. So I bandaged it up and went to my appointment today. Dr.Kern has told me the area has inlarged and the drainage is a mixure of blood and puss. Then changed the bandage which I will do several times before my appointment on Monday with Dr.Rehnke. Dr.Kern also changed my antibioptic to Levaquin 500MG once a day till I see Dr.R. I'm also still taking pain pills when the pain gets bad. Kern's office said to let them know if the area gets worse or really starts to bleed outright.
