Does Anyone have Humana HMO ? Recently ?

Hi everyone. I am looking thru my benefits and can find nothing about WLS exclusions or Obesity. I keep seeing : medically nessacery : on everything - which is fine. I have several co-morbidities. I just dont want to get excited for nothing. I am crossing my fingers. Does anyone have this insurance ? If so - How did it go ? Thanks ! Wishing everyone the Best . Sabs

Are you with humana through medicaid. If so they will pay for it as long as your doctor states it is medically neccessary. They may require 6 months of a medically supervised diet. The best thing to do is to call them!

This may sound VERY stupid - But I am too afraid to of call ! I don't know why. I guess I don't want to break down and boo hoo on the phone if it's not in my favor. My Humana is not thru Medicaid. I really appreciate your input !

Hi Sabrina, I am new to the board, but I have Humana HMO and I was approved for surgery last week. I had to provide six months of a medically supervised diet. I had no problem getting approved. Good Luck, Arial

Thanks ! At least I know that they are still approving people. I just started seeing the Dr again and still need to make my appt. to the nutritionist. They have my documentation from 2 years ago when I tried to do this. But there is a gap between then and now. If I have to, I will be patient for 6 more months. THANK YOU ! I really appreciate it. Sabrina, I have Humana Gold Plus, per being on SS Disability with Medicare. I just received my RNY, May 10th and down 60 pounds already. But men lose faster. I was approved overnight. Click on my name above and read my profile. I saw a nutritionist on my own. Humana or Dr.Rehnke, my surgeon. Didn't require it. Which surgery are you considering? I ask as a friend recently tried to get the Lap Banding, but even though Humana Reps keep saying it's grants it. She couldn't find a Primary which would refer her to receive it. Remember also if you have Medicare, even with Humana managing it. Medicare requires that you can ONLY receive and of the Weight Loss Surgeries at a Hospital and by a Surgeon, who has received the "Center of Excellence Award". If you need more help, just ask. Mike

Hi Mike. I am not sure about which surgery. I don't think that I want the Lap band, and I am trying to read about them. My PCP is more then willing to help me on this. You have so many doctor to choice from. I could not write all of them down. Here are a few who takes Humana HMO. If not go back to my insurance and look up other members surgeons through my insurance. This is how i found these numbers under Humana HMO. I hope they help you.
