Now Living in Florida (Thanks to Katrina) lol

Hey everyone.... I have been in Pensacola Florida Since about 6 days after Katrina.. My brother who is stationed here with the Coast Gaurd found us in a refugee camp on the 6th day after the storm and brought us here to Pensacola and this is where we stayed My katrina Adventure and pictures are on my profile, if you would like to read I am 2 years post op and have lost a grand total of 263 pounds.. I was living in Long Beach Miss right on the beach. I have yet to find a support group in the area, and yes even 2 years out a support group is aweosme to have. I miss talking to people that have been through things I have and just to be support for one another.. I was a member of the support group out at Keesler Airforce Base in Biloxi Miss. Wonderful group of people I was Just now able to get my profile updated with some newer before and after photos.. I havent got access on a daily basis to the computer but I am looking forward to meeting a bunch of awesome people on this board I remember right after my surgery I wanted to talk to people that were a lot further out to knwo that they are still doing great, and I am 2 years out and doing fantastic I cant wait to make some new friends Hugs Karen

Hi Karen Wow, you've done a great job with the weight loss. Congratulations! Dr. Jeffrey Lord's office has monthly support meetings in Pensacola at Sacred Heart Hospital. I think there have been postops there before who had surgery by other doctor. You could call his office and find out for sure. Also, there has been some discussion over on Dr. Lord's patient forum here on ObesityHelp about starting regular meet and greets but nothing has been started that I know of. I like the idea of the informal ones like some of the other gals in other areas of Florida have at the mall food court where people can come and go, etc. I bet if one got started there would be several people interested once word got out! First off I want to say.... CONGRATTTTTTTTTTSSSSSSSSS YAYYY You were approved HOW AWESOMEEEEEEEE... I remember the dauy I was approved, lol It was april fools day and I laughed at the hurse and said that was a mean joke and hung up the phone she had to call back 3 times to convince me she wasnt joking, lol I am sooo happy for you and I cant wait to see you over here on the LOSING side, lol Thanks for the advice about the groups here.. My surgery was done at Keesler Medical Center by a miracle worker Dr. Jenkins.. I cant wait to meet people in the area who have either shared in this journey or maybe I can be an inspiration to others looking into the surgery;) Thank you SOOOO very much for taking the time to drop me this message it def put a smile on my face Hugs Karen

Aweee thank you sweetie.. I always say everything happens for a reason... And I have a purpose here in Florida it appears.. I look forward to making ALOT of new friends And from what I have seen I couldnt not have surrounded myselof with a better bunch of people than on this board HUGS Karen
