Please help
Has anyone here used Muhammad A. Jawad or T. Patrick Fitzgerald and know what they requier? I'm trying to get my surgery stuff up and doing and I am still waiting to hear from my mom about what the insurance company she has says... but I was wondering if anyone could give me some feed back on those two particular doctors.. I know Muhammad is on OB help and read some of his info.. but Fitzgerald isn't and was wondering if anyone has used him and what he's like?
Dr. Jawad is an excellent surgeon. I can do nothing but rant and rave about him. He performed both of my surgeries and did my husbands lap band. He's one of the top doctors in his field. The after care is excellent. I've been a patient of his for over a year now and have nothing but good things to say about him! I don't know anything about Dr. Fitzgerald so I can't help you out there. Dr. J's statistics are incredible both with surgery and with his aftercare. You can check out his webiste at jawadmd.com
If you have any questions feel free to e mail me anytime!!
Good luck,
Jo Ann
Hey! Dr Jawad was my surgeon... I think he is an angel.. but everyone thinks that about their doctor.
What kind of insurance do you have. Mine was a breeze. I had united healthcare and only had to do the preoperative tests (blood work, nutrition eval and psych eval).
I'd be happy to talk with you personally, if you'd like.

My husband and I had consults with another surgeon first, and then friends urged me to get a consult with Dr. Jawad. We both had our surgeries with him and trust his experience, knowledge and can appreciate first hand that 'Center for Surgical Excellence' rating is based in fact - the care and concern that he and his staff show are unmatched.
I could go on and on but I'll stop. Do your research on the other doctor by calling his office and requesting an info packet, same with Jawad's office. Hunt around on this site for 'questions to ask your surgeon' - that might be helpful when you make your calls as well.
I think it's the insurance companies that dictate a lot of the requirements. We had to have 6 months diet documented by our doctor, NUT consult, PSYCH eval, blood tests, H-Pylori test- his office takes care of everything once you have your initial consult.
Good Luck!
I am with Dr. Jawad as well and my experience has been excellent. To me, one of the best things about choosing Dr. J is the Ocala Regional Hospital comes with the doctor and I cannot say enough wonderful things about my hospital care. All the bariatric patients have their own wing and PRIVATE ROOM. The staff is so attentive!!!! I honestly felt like I was on a little mini-vacation after surgery if you can believe it. I have not heard anything about the other doctor so you will have to do some investigation. As another member stated, all insurance companies have their own set of requirements; you will have to check with yours. I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield Government and it was very easy to be approved. I had my surgery date a month and a half after my first appointment with Dr. Jawad. Good luck and keep us posted.

Well I dug out my insurance card and it's BlueCross BlueShield of Flordia. And being I know nothing of insurance.. I let my mother handle that... it does say BC Plan 090 and BS Plan 590 on the card.
Jawad is the one me and my mother both saw and liked his stats... only he is a good 160ish miles away from where she lives in Sarasota... I knew Sarasota had a gastric bypass center and that's where I found Fitzgerald's name.. only he's not on here so don't have his info.. it's a little early to be calling right now but I did send an e-mail to the one that was posted on his site asking for some information.. perhaps that'll work for now.
So considering the insurance I have.. can anyone here tell me what they requier?
