Okay, I have tried to remember but Why aren't we supposed to have caffeine or is that individual surgeons or what. I like unsweetened tea but I don't want to order it out since they don't have decaf. Sooooooooo. ...Can someone enlighten me? Carol -30#

Carol, It is an individual surgeon issue. I think some believe caffeine is an appetite stimulant. My surgeon doesn't restrict us from caffeine, but he does restrict us from soda. There are lots of herb teas that are decaf out these days. I did drink a lot of iced tea prior to surgery, now I just drink a little water with lemon to wash down my meals. If I'm just drinking (no food), I will have ice tea with Equal or a SF flavored kind, love SF peach Snapple

Thanks Amy. My surgeon didn't have a problem with it but I read so much back and forth. Anyway, I am with you the water with lemon or lime. I do like ice tea during my "drinking time" . Soda is another whole issue that differs with surgeons. My says no for a long time anyways. Have a great weekend. Carol

I just saw the nutritionist last week and these are the reasons she gave me. caffeine dehydrates you quicker and it is hard enough getting your water in. as far as soda, they told us that soda and/or drinking from a staw both can stretch your pouch out. The gas/air causes stretching. So for me.. I gave up my 30 year habit of coffee one week ago. and I really am not a soda person so that should not be a problem. Good luck.
