Hi everyone and I hope every body had a great holiday. I spent New Years eve having my gall bladder removed, it was a big surprise not planned. I will get to the point I was writing about, I am 2.5 months post op and have only lost 40 pounds. I had to lose 80 pounds just to have my surgery done by lap. Dr. Jessee says I am right on target but I think it is to slow. I work out and do alot of cardio and water cardio and I walk alot, so I am really not happy with my results. I have a friend who had open RYN and is down 200 pounds since April 5th and she doesn't even exercise. I also have no problem with any food and have never had dumping syndrome, so I really have to be very careful about my diet and I watch evry thing and I do count my protien and my carbs and even my calories. I am keeping positive thoughts and will continue to do my thing and watch my diet and I hope I can do better soon with the weight loss. Has any one else had this happen to them? I hope it is just not me.... Thanks to all Karen in Seminole

Karen, I had somewhat the same problem after my surgery; I lost 20 pounds right away and then didn't seem to lose any for the longest time after that. I upped my protein intake as well as my water , and started eating a few carbs every day as well and the weight is melting off now. I loose about 5lbs. a week now and am down within 8 pounds of my drs. goal for me and I just went over the 5 month mark. I to have to be very careful as to what I eat as I have never had a problem with anything since surgery either. Hope this helps you out. Vivian (Vicki) Mayer [email protected]

Karen, let me try to put things in perspective for you. You have lost 120 pounds. If you had not decided to have this surgery how much would you have lost? I know you lost 80 pounds before surgery, but would you have lost that weight if you weren't trying to get LAP surgery? You talk about all the exercise you do, you are probably building muscle mass as you lose fat. This will make the scale move slower, even though you are doing your body better. Everyone wants to lose 100 pounds in the first three months, not everyone does. You have lost 120 pound, and you are probably more active than you have been in years. You should be proud of yourself. Besides just looking at the scale, chart body inches, and chart clothes sizes. Keep track of how active you are compared to how active you were 6 months ago, compare your energy level today with your energy level six months ago. Then ask yourself, am I really not happy with the results? Do not stop and compare your results from yesterday to today, always compare today with day one. Good luck Steve
