Hi, I'm the new kid on the block and I'm looking for any and all information I can obtain on the surgery.Let me give you a little update... ********** March 25: appointment with Dr.John Nye March 29: appointment for nutritional evaluation March 29: appointment for presurgical psychological screening I could use some input on the psychological evaluation.I've contacted the dr I was referred to by Dr.Nye's office but I was really shocked at the price for the screening (two visits) $425.00 and the receptionist states my insurance company will not pay for it and it must be paid in full before the screening on 3/29. Is anyone in the Pensacola Fl area having better luck than I am with the charge for the screening if so please give advise.

Jerrie, you don't have to use the doctor Nye referred you to. I didn't. I picked a doctor who was in my insurance network and did evals for WLS. All I paid was my co-pay. Good luck! Patty

Patty, Thanks so much for the reply. I feel so lost, but I'm trying to inform myself with all the updated information on the web, but the best information has to come from experience from former patients..thanks again...

Jerrie- Have you talked to your insurance carrier about the surgery and what their requirements are and what they will cover ie nutritionist, psych eval, etc. and to get referrals to providers.

Jerrie, I just had my RNY on Feb 11th this year. I went to the Baptisit Bariatric Center for the psych eval. I attempted to go to the Naval Hospital or anyone else in my network, but Dr Nye really advised against it. I suppose it I would of pushed the issue, I could of, but I didn't. I spoke with my insurance company and told them what was going on. They said they would pay half of mine and i paid the other half. Also, I only went once to the psychologist and it was only $350 when I went in Nov. Maybe their prices have gone up, but I would check again just in case. If you need any help please let me know!
