What was the first pet you ever had? What was it's name and where is he/she now? My first pet was a Samoid /Malamute sled dog. Her name was Taku. We got her when I was in the 3rd grade. She was such a sweet doggy. When I was sad I would lay beside her and cry into her fur. She was sucha good listener. One time (in British Columbia Cananda) she went snowmobileing with me and we were miles from home way back in the bush in the middle of nowhere... Well my snowmobile slid off the trail into about 3 feet of snow and I got stuck. I tried everything to get "unstuck" and was exhausted. It was getting on toward dusk so I took off my touque (sock hat) and wrapped it in her collar. I instructed her to "go home and get daddy." She took off like a bullet and about an hour later, she came trotting up with my dad behind her. She near saved my life. Years later we moved back here to FL and she was struck by a car on xmas eve. ...I loved that puppy and sometimes I still dream about her! Sally

My first pet was a Keeshond aka "keeshonden". Her name was Keisha (go figure) I don't remember much about her, because we had her when I was a baby until I was about 5 in Colorado Springs, but I do have TONS of pictures of us together. One is particularly ironic. When I was about 3 weeks old, we were in a car accident and, luckily, all I received a broken leg. (A bunch of my infant pictures portray me with a cast on one leg). Well, Keisha must have wanted me to not feel weird wearing the cast, because she broke her leg 2 weeks later. My mom and dad have a picture of me laying next to Keisha, both with casts! I was told that when I was 5 we had to move a lot because my dad was in the Navy, so we asked my grandparents to watch her, and when we came home from the next stent...they had sold her! My mom was devastated and to this day still mentions her when someone talks of puppies. Now I have an adorable little chihuahua named Shiitake. She is my baby! My husband bought her for me as a "courage" gift after I told him of my decision to have this surgery. -Phoenix

My first was a poodle. We had several over the years and they were always white. Our first was Snoopy. He passed away from old age and the subsequent pups also passed away from old age or car accidents. I also had 3 chow-chows, Tashie (the most amazing creature I've ever known) a gorgeous black chow, Chato -a black wirey, wild chow and Stoney -a smaller cream chow that was very mild. But above them all was the queen, Mademoiselle Bibet (aka Baby) She was a 6lb poodle fire-ball! We've had a variety of pets thru the next couple of years, a dalmation (named Snow) that drove me insane, 2 horses-My breathetaking Azteca, Rebel and my hubby's horse, a palamino named Twister and a blonde ****er spaniel that my mother-in-law adopted from us. Now we have a wonderful retired greyhound who is just perfect! We'll never have another breed dog! He is my heart!
