P'Cola Dr. opinions...pro & con?

Laura, after reading a few of the comments...I have this to say, there are, I believe, at least 3 doctors in the P'cola area that do WLS. Dr. Nye is THE MOST experienced and the best. Dr. Althar in Milton comes next, but he has only been doing it for about 3-4years, Dr. Lord would be next but he is the newest. You make your own choice about about who and what kind. When I had my surgery in Sep 02, my PCP offered to refer me to Althar but he was just too new for me at that time. Also, the hospital (Santa Rosa Medical Center) is not the best in this part of Florida. I say that while my own PCP works there. I don't mind seeing the PCP there but I wouldn't have any procedures done there. (My husband works in the MRI medical field and he hears stuff all the time.) Also, Milton is a little more than 5 minutes from P'cola (especially with all the road problems and bridge closures we have had with Hurricane Ivan...the traffic is horrible! Good luck! Patty
