new looking for new freinds and support

I have been overweight my entire life. I am the only person I know with a weight problem I am on month 3 of my dr supervised weight checks 3 months to go untill I can file for auth. from my insurance company anyone in this situation know when I should make my appointment with Spectra? by the way this message board is awsome I am waiting for them to post my pic it is not a good one but how many pre-op pics are? but I hope to meet a lot of people who can relate to my situation it would just be nice to know there are others out there that face the same problems that I do

welcome to the boards. I am heather and I live in orlando. I have found threw my WLS. that you will need friends who have been threw what you are going threw. Its a hard road. but believe in yourself and dont let anything or anyone get in your way.

Melissa- Welcome I am post op 4 years and post PS. This is the best place I have found since surgery to find others like ME. There are pre-op...post-op....pre-PS....post-PS...People who have gone through what you are going through...and we all come here to help support each other and answer each others questions. I think you'll find ALOT of friends and Info here Good luck hon!

Melissa, Welcome to our neck of the internet woods. There are lots of people on here who can offer you advice and support. Read profiles and research as much as you can until you send in for approval that will just educate and help prepare you for when you are post-op. Stay focused and dont give up! Amy -180lb.

I had to do the supervised weight loss thing too. I feel for ya. I wish I could help with your question...but I don't know what Spectra is?!? Linda

Melissa - you've come to the right place. we've all been right where you are or some of us are still there..waiting, researching...if you want to do this surgery - you will do whatever it takes to get approved - so hang in there!!

Hi Mellisa, I had my surgery in Tampa with Dr. Murr and had to go through Spectra as well. They had a month or so wait for appts. Also if they feel you need additional testing, treatment, then that will delay the process. Because of that I'd recommend getting in asap. I don't know what insurance you have but sounds like you only need 6 months medical supervised diet - Thats Great! I had to have 12 months. My first request was denied and I had to wait which was agonizing. It was authorized on appeal and I had my surgery in April 2005. One good thing, once I was "cleared" by Spectra I didn't have to return (Thank God). I live in Deltona and that was a drive! Keep us updated. We're here for you.
