I'm new here, anyone know Dr. Alberto Aceves in Mexico?

My insurance has an exclusion so I've decided to go south of the border. Does anybody know Dr. Aceves in Mexico? Anybody in the Miami area gone there? Please give me any information because I am seriously considering doing the LapBand there. I was originally thinking of Dr. Kuri but what I've researched so far makes Dr. Aceves more appealing. The hospital seems nice. If I decide to do it with him the surgery will be the end of July so I need some information urgently!!!!!! I'm new in this site so I don't know what the process is. Sorry, I haven't introduced myself either, I'm Maria Pifferrer from Miami and I hope to get to know you all soon. By the way, what's an angel? Maria

Maria- Good luck to you. I posted a reply to a message similar to yours a couple of days ago. Just be sure you have a local doctor that will be able to do the fills for the lap band. I have seen people post messages here on the Florida board and on the main board that got their band out of the country and then had trouble finding a local doctor to do the fills -- or if they found a local doctor that would do the fills -- they were very expensive. So just be sure you do your homework. Good luck, I truly hope all goes well for you.

Hi Maria, I did see a posting a few months back about a woman that went out of the country for her lapband and she found the "fills" to be an issue. Her resolution was that she actually got her primary (who was supportive of her surgery) in contact with the surgeon and the surgeon taught the PCP how to do the fills. Thanks Laurie for the heads up. I tend to be a broken record about this, but if you have been on the board very long you see messages about the problems with getting the fills pop up pretty regularly. I know nothing about the band-- I am trying to have the DS myself.
