Hi, My hubby and I are moving our family to Bradenton at the end of September from Pennsylvania. We are very excited about the move.....except for housing costs! yiks! Anyways, I am 41 years old and have just started getting my documentation in order for approval. I have done my 2 nite sleep study and was dx. with sleep apnea. I just got my CPAP machine a few days ago - can't wait to get rid of that thing - I love breathing in my sleep, but there is no way I want to sleep with that for the rest of my life!! I went to my PCP and started the documentation of a mandatory 6 month diet and I have her blessing for the surgery - although she did warn me about the numbers of people she see's in her office that have regained the weight. My 6 months will be up on Feb. 17th, 2006. I have request information from Dr. Jawad in Ocala for a possible surgeon. Anyone have a PCP around Bradenton that was supportive in the 6 month diet phase? I need a Dr. to pick up where mine is leaving off. Also, any other surgeon or hospital recommendations in the Bradenton/Sarasota area? Any other help/suggestion or comments would be great! We are all looking forward to the 'southern' lifestyle..........and leaving the snow behind!! Dana P. 222/?/125

Welcome! Taxes are different here than up north, seems money goes further. anyway, I used Dr Kim at Celebration hospital, he is outstanding. You will love the Florida weather, I'm down here 2+ years from Buffalo, NY and loving it! Blessings, Tami

Hi Dana, Welcome to FLorida. I live in the Tampa area and I had my surgery with Dr. Vaughan in Jupiter, Florida. He was WONDERFUL and very knowledgable. He is a teaching surgeon (and he was taught by Carnie's surgeon...Dr. Wittegrove). His follow up care is excellent. If you would like to know more about him you can email me at [email protected] Take care and good luck with the move Terese -130 8-19-03

Hi Dana I live about 50 miles sounth of Bradenton but used to live in Ligonier! I surely miss the valley during the fall season. My surgeon is Dr Ernest Rehnke of St Petersburg. He has a website obesitynomorefl.com He does both RNY and Lap Band. He and Dr Grossbard do seminars in Sarasota. Best of luck to you!

Welcome Dana, The Tampa Bay area is a great place to live. I moved here from Pittsburgh 25 years ago and never regretted it. You might want to consider my surgeon;Ernest Rehnke. His office is next door to Palms of Pasadena Hospital, not far from the Skyway. He is excellent. He has a monthly support group that is very informative and well attended. Best, DN @ GOAL LadyBodFit.com WeightlossSurgery.ws PS NO STATE TAXES HERE IN SUNNY FLA!! (Go Bucs & Go Steelers)

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome to the FLORIDA boards! I will miss our Ligonier Days and the beautiful turning of the fall leaves, but I figure that is about 2/3 weeks out of the year - not worth living thru winter for! My parents have been in the Bradenton area for 17 years, so I have been visiting a long time. We spent 2 months there last summer for my son to attend the Tampa Day School, so I know I will just love living in the area! Our Steelers are looking good again this year! Dana
