Beginning the journey!
Hi everyone! I'm beginning my journey to have a better quality of life. The last couple of months I noticed my quality of life is slowly deteriorating. It seems like simple tasks in everyday life is so difficult now. I had my first appt. with Dr. Jawad's office on Aug. 16th and my psych eval on Aug. 18th. At this point I got my finger crossed and hope I will be blessed with an approval. I'm not going through my insurance company (AVMED) because all they want to do is to re-imburse you if you go through Weigh****chers! I'm trying to get the surgery done by Vocational Rehab. Have anyone had the producure done through them? I would love to hear from you!
Hi Monette...
Welcome!!
I sure do know what you mean about quality of life deteriorating! I'm scheduled to see Dr. Jawad on Sept. 16th, and will self pay if necessary, and then sue the insurance company. I just know life is better than this, and I want to be around for it. What is vocational rehab??
Debi.

Hi Debi,
Reading your post brought a smile to my face. Vocational Rehab is actually Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, I going through them because my weight has become a physical or mental impairment which results in a substantial impediment to employment. So before you spend your own money, you might want to check them out. Here is the web site www.rehabworks.org., so far Vocational Rehab have paid for everything. The only bad thing is Vocational Rehab have up to sixty days to get a decison. But, I said what is sixty days compared to a life time of better life. I'll keep in touch

Hello Sue, I see you have decided on the lap band. Me too. I'm in Jacksonville and my surgeon is Dr. Cywes. (read my profile)
I recently met one of his patients in Palm Coast via this message board.
Self pay? What kind of insurance do you have? Did you check with Don Mills at Inamed:
www.inamed.com
If your insurance company won't pay, Don will write an appeal letter and it won't cost you a thing.
Also, my surgeon has suggested calling 1-888-LAP-BAND. And his office personnel says that Vystar Credit Union has good interest rated as does Wacchovia. Additionally, if you look at the Sunday coupon section, you'll see lots of ads for an interest free credit card for a certain number of months. I just saw one for CHASE with an 18 month interest free option.
Please let me know which physician you have chosen and what insurance you have and what avenues you've explored for payment.
Hpoe to hear from you soon.
Blessings,
La Wanda
