Insurance Question

Employee changing insurance, Blue Cross Blue Shield or Cigna does anyone know if they cover the gastric bypass. Thanks

I don't think BC/BS is covering it at this time, but Cigna is. It all depends on your employer's coverage. You'll have to check with human resources about their WLS rider. Good Luck, Erika L

Some employers in FL are covering WLS. Check the policy, just because it is FL it may still be covered. My husband has BCBS but their company uses a policy out of SC and it is 100% covered.

Hi Robin, Cigna does cover RNY, but they will make you jump through many hoops to get there! Call them first to confirm, but don't take no for an answer, you will have to be very insistant for them to admit that it is covered. They require a six month doctor supervised diet first, so see your GP and get that going right away, and you can work on the rest of the many requirements while you are doing the diet. The more diet history you have, the better. They do not cover Lap band, it is considered experimental. Just remember - don't take NO for an answer, and good luck! Missy
