Has anyone who has had a Nissan Wrap for acid reflux disease, or GERD had gastric bypass after? What were the dangers?

hi, had a wrap in 1995/or 8, saved my life, had barrettes, never took a antacid since leveing the hospital. I am now preparing for wls surgery with dr Gagner, he has done the ds on a previouse wrap patient, in 2001, very successful, I have been refered to him by 4 rny doctors and one other leading ds doctor. It is a demanding surgery, Dr g is leaving the wrap in place, too dangerous to take apart.nerve issue, cannot have the rny,or band, the wrap the fundus that is the part that goes around the esophagas, the name is Niisan(doctor) fundus(part of stomach) wrap. is normally taken out in a ds, is in use and not available for a "pouch." DR Gagner and Dr Herron are the only two known to me to have experience. they were collegues. fortunaly have the wrap in place will force aetna and tricare to provide the ds to me where they probly would not if a rny was a option.

I see your dr is Jawad. You are in very good hands, he is super cautious, and wont do a surgery if he was unsure of your safety and outcome. Just make sure he knows you have had this done, so he can discuss it with you. good luck joe

I had the Nissan fundoplasty done in 99 and the Gastric bypass is considered a revision. Was scheduled for Sept 6th in Biloxi (Katrina changed that) am now scheduled in Mobile. They did a UGI(yuck) and found out they could do the RNY and do it laproscopic. It is more tedious and takes longer.
