Hi Justina, How sweet of you to ask. THank-you... Well the home healthcare nurse is still coming out daily and we have added regalin to my fluids for nausea and it is WORKING! TY Lord! I spoke with the surgeon about the Carafate and told him about my not taking it for 2 days and feeling better. He immediately said to stop taking it and that he was thrilled with my observation. He said that it would do me more harm at this point and I am probably allergic to it. SO! I am off of it and am not throwing up anymore though I do still feel nauseated most of the time. However, I am MUCH better and actaully ate some mashed taters and gravy at thanksgiving and had about 2 oz of SF pumpkin pie... filling only! I was thrilled to get that much in me. The surgeon and I both feel pretty certain that we are dealing with a small stricture. Liquids are much easier for me than solids so we will see when he scopes me in the next 2 weeks. I am sluggish still but getting better and better I think. I hope everyone had a blessed TG! Sallykate

I saw that your surgery date was so recent and was wondering if it was strictures. Even though you found difficulty with the medicine you were taking, it sounds like it still may be. Just a little bit of advice . . . don't mix textures. Food/liquid, like that. Separate food from liquids by at least 15 to 20 minutes. What EVER you eat, chew and chew and chew and chew until it's the consistency of a puree . . . like baby food. Until he can scope you, separating the textures and keeping your food texture to a puree might help. You don't actually HAVE to puree the food, just make sure it's chewed down to a consistency LIKE a puree. You'll get through this, honey, and you will see that it's not so bad. PS . . .I was lucky enough not to have suffered with strictures, but I'm a speech path that works with patients who have swallowing difficulties. A lot of times people come to me for a swallowing difficulty and we find out that it's not REALLY the swallowing, but esophageal strictures, and that's part of the advice I give them before they can see the gastroenterologist to do the dilation. Good Luck!!!!

Thanx for the advice. I am trying to chew more. I notice that the softer the food, the better luck I have with getting it down. Sallykate
