HELP-Desperately seeking a local support group OR will start my own-HELP

Hello everyone, this is my first post on any website ever, and I really need to hear from some others out there in a similar situation as myself. Short version-- I had an open RNY on 10/4/05 in New York, however I live in Flagler county Florida and am having major difficulty in finding a local support group. It seems that locally there aren't any support groups open to patients from other doctors. For that matter I haven't even come accross ANY real local groups. I DESPERATELY NEED HELP finding something somewhere I am so frustrated. I have even been seriously considering starting my own support group. Are there any others like me who are in search and have yet to find a local support group?? I have started looking into it and have a possibilty of getting a room to host meetings in a major hospital in Volusia county....help I need advice from friends.

Hi Cindy, If you put out a call on this message board, you will find people if they are out there. Tomorrow night I have a first meeting of a new group in Leesburg, Florida. There will only be 6 of us, but that's enough to get started. Good luck to you. Carol

Cindy, There is a group that meets at the Regency Branch library every other Saturday from 10am-01:00pm. You are welcome to join us. It is run by La Wanda and it is a good group of people. We are meeting this Saturday. I know that is a drive for you but until you find one closer, or start one, we could be there for you. La Wanda started this one on her own so you can get ideas from her to start one in your area. Blessings. Terri

Cindy, Do you know where the Regency Square Mall is? It is off Atlantic Blvd on the Southside of town. Cindy, I live in Flager county too. I recently put a post on to see if there were any groups near Palm Coast but did not see any replies. I have had lap band, 11/21. I know the surgerys are are completely different but still the are wls. Let me know if I can help in any way!
