Hi everyone - I'm tired

Hope every one had a wonderful Christmas. Actually, Christmas meal was easy for me to work with. I had mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, mashed green beans and even a few bites of pumpkin pie filling. Now Christmas Eve was a different story. We were invited out and I was fine until someone came in with a huge garden salad smothered with sliced red onions. One wiff of that and the nausea set in. We stayed as long as I could stand it, but had to leave early and get home to my nausea medicine. Now, I have made a little pack to take out with me, nausea medicine, liq tylenol, neosporin, and my Baby Snoopy Spoon and Fork. My biggest problem now, is being tired. My surgery - Lap RYN - was Dec 7 and I just seem like I have no energy yet. I am guessing that I am not yet getting in enough protein. I am getting about 30 grams a day. And that is going in through my G tube. I am kind of getting tired of hearing myself say I am so tired. And then I think, I have so much to be thankful for. Love to all, Carol

Carol, I had open RNY and was tired for about 6 weeks after surgery. I went back to work after 3 weeks because I couldnt stand watching TV any longer, but I came home every day and took a little nap. I think as long as you're following program and taking your vitamins, I think you are feeling pretty normal for the early phase. Hang in there! Amy

Carol, you are tired for alot of reasons. One you just had major surgery and anesthesia takes a while to get out of the system. Two : you are not getting enough protein, You need to take 60-70 grams a day. You will force your body to leach protein from your muscles and make things worse. Three: vitamins, are you taking them? You need them. So remember, protein, water, vitamins, walk, walk, rest, rest. One day at a time girlfriend! Blessings, Tami

Carol, you're going to be tired for a while, but my question was your menu. You're supposed to still be on full liquids since it's only been about 2 weeks. You don't get potatoes or mashed beans until 4 weeks out, and you're not supposed to be having pumpkin pie filling unless it's SF, and it's too soon for that as well. Did Sylvia move your diet forward sooner or something? Please be careful and don't rush your transition. Let your pouch heal and take care of yourself!!! You had major surgery! Jan

Carol, I was glad to hear via email that Sylvia approved your menu! Just give the lack of energy a little time. Your body has been through a lot! You're going to have the most amazing 2006!! Jan

Check with Sylvia about being tired. She told me to take the B12 daily instead of weekly.
