Dr Cox: No Medicaid WLS in FL

Hi, April, I have checked with Dr Haiken's office, and was told ,"No." But, again, I do have Medipass, and not Staywell. I will call them and see if they have any suggestions. Thanks for the input -- very much!!! Trish

Trish, I just went to a support group meeting saturday and I am positive one of the lady's that came in was getting RNY with a Doc at Shans Jax with medicaid. She is not old enough to have medicare and I think she even mentioned that she was having it at shans because of her high BMI and medicaid. I know that Jax is really far and might as well be in another state but it is a thought. Have you checked North Florida? Tonya Jax, FL

Hi Tonya, If haven't checked with Shands at Jax... I didn't know there was one there! Thanks for letting me know. I had checked with Shands in Gainesville -- no one knew, and I never talked to the same person twice. I gave up on dealing with them, but I will try again with both Hospitals. I may try to raise some funds and go there myself. Gratefully, Trish
