She is here!!!
Hi everyone! Our little girl finally made it! She was born at 8:03 this morning! Of course she is beautiful and perfect! Tiny and pink with 10 little fingers and toes and we are rejoicing for the blessing granted with her birth!
There were a few tense moments (felt more like hours) when her heart rate was dropping with each contraction and then the meconium stool in utero. Her breathing was a bit difficult for a little while but they suctioned and suctioned and got her little airway all cleaned out. Her umbilical cord was also wrapped around her neck which caused the decreases in HR. God blessed us with a perfect outcome and I can't wait to go hold her some more tomorrow.
I need to ask you for your prayers for two of my other little ones and for myself and my nephew. My grandaughter who is 8 has scarlet fever. She is doing a bit better today but still has fever and rash. At the same time my 16 yo nephew called and said a friend of his thinks he may have shingles. My sister took him to the doctor the next morning and indeed he does have shingles which can be very painful and recurrent. Then my daughter called this morning and told me that she noticed last night that her baby's left lower leg was swollen a little but when he woke up this morning it was much more swollen. She called the doctor first thing this morning and took him in this afternoon and they found that both his tibia and fibula are broken. Ashli is beside herself trying to figure out what may have happened to him. His daycare provider is a wonderful woman who has cared for Noah since birth and his brother who will be three in a few days since his birth. As far as we both are concerned she is beyond any suspicion or reproach. She always brings every little scratch or bump to Ashli's attention immediately. The only plausible explanation is that Dylan or one of the daycare kids may have fallen or stepped on him or somehow injured him. He has a cast from foot to thigh. Ashli says he was trying to get his little piggies in his mouth tonight and couldn't figure out why he couldn't get his toes to his mouth. They are still planning to come visit this weekend unless the endocrinologist has a reason that she shouldn't. Because both boys have CAH (Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia) anytime they get sick, injured, run a fever etc. she has to call the endocrin. and they have to go on stress doses of their steroids to help their body respond properly to the injury/illness. Without the extra steroids they don't have that fight/flight response to illness or injury that the rest of us have.
Finally I need your prayers for my own decrepit old body! I have been hit with a horrible attack of athritis pain since Sunday. Every joint in my body hurts except for my neck. I could hardly drive yesterday because it hurt so to press the pedals with my feet and to grasp the steering wheel with my fingers. I am feeling a little better today but I know the cold weather is still lurking and will be back with a vengence in a day or so. That always makes the pain worse.
SO I am asking that you please keep my family in your prayers!
Kat
Kat,
Prayers are already winging their way heavenward! Hope things improve for everyone soon!
Congrats on the new granddaughter! I'm jealous - no grandkids of my own yet. Since I'd rather the boys get things in the proper order first, I'll try to wait patiently for grandbabies. But now that one of my sons is getting married, the odds are getting better!!

Thank you ladies for your good wishes and your prayers! Grandma is feeling better. Not in nearly as much pain. The little one we hope will come home from the hospital today. She was jaundiced yesterday so they put her on the bililight. I didn't get to hold her yesterday because they would only let her Mom and Dad go in the nursery. Dylan and Noah both had bililights but they let them stay in the room with their mommy with the lights (different hospital). I guess this hosp. doesn't have the portable bililights. Waiting to see what her bilirubin is today to make a decision about her coming home.
Vicky- Congrats on the marriage of your son. Believe me when I say there is nothing like Grandchildren. When you have children you think you can never love anything or anyone like you love them but when that first little grandbaby comes along...OMG It is indescribable (i am not sure I spelled that correctly).
The sad thing is that my daughter and the new little one are moving to California at the end of the month. I hate thinking about it but I know it is coming. I am a happy camper for right now though. My boys are coming from Georgia in the morning too so that makes me really happy!

Hey there woman. I'm glad the baby is here and she and mommie are okay....as well as gramma. Are you taking meds for the arthritis?
And the baby moving to California? Tell mommie that's not an option. She can go if she wants to but gramma has had plenty of experience in raising little ones so she can go and the baby will be fine!!!!!
You're had some problems the last week or so, my friend, but hang in there. Prayers are coming your way and all of this will pass and you'll be able to sit back and count your blessings once again....even with tears in your eyes knowing the littlest one is moving to the other side of the world (or so it seems).
Hope to see you and Cindy next Saturday. Keep in touch with me so I know what's happening in your world. Don't make me come over there and brow beat you. You KNOW how I am.
