Anyone here can help me

Hi Everyone, I have a friend that has medicaid. Does Medicaid cover wls? and if thay do what do thay look for to approve you?? I would like any info that i can get to help her out. Thanks, Deb

Yes they do, if it's medically necessary. If you have a BMI over 40 and a few co-morbidities they usually approve without a problem. They also require 6 months of supervised diet history, although I was approved with less. The big problem is finding a surgeon and a hospital who accepts medicaid. Dr. Samuel Cox in Ft. Lauderdale still accepts medicaid, however the hospitals in the area now refuse to accept it. They lose $3000.00 on every medicaid patient. I hope she can find help. Good Luck, Erika L

Is your friend able to work at all? I know someone who works for McDonalds and was looking through their insurance policy (First Health) and they do cover WLS. McDonalds will hire anyone, so it's worth a try if she is serious about this.

Are you talking corporate MCDonald's or franchise? Most McDonald's are franchises so they would all have different insurance policies wouldn't they? I would think the corporate restaurants would have the same insurance though. Red

I'm referring to a corporate store. Most of the ones from West Palm north to Vero along the East coast are corporate owned.
