I'm hoping this section will be used for humorous things that have happened to us from WLS surgery on...Laughter is the best medicine, of course...and when we laugh at ourselves, we are certainly speeding healing, I think. I'm sure each of us has a funny moment to share.
Mine happened the day of my surgery. The afternoon of my surgery when I was back in my room and taking pain medicine...kind of "in and out", I remember my best friend coming in. I was so glad, because I sure wanted someone to talk to. I sure did...one sentence, sleep, half a sentence, sleep, just drift off...you get the picture. She thought it was so funny because I never lost my train of thought, I would always pick up the same sentence where I left off when I would "drift". I was so surprised when I woke up for real and she had already left...I was still wanted to finish my conversation and tell her about my dream...

On the day of my surgery, I was being taken from the recovery room to my room on another floor. My bed was being rolled out of the elevator when for some strange reason (which the nurses said they had never seen happen) the wheels of the bed turned sideways and slipped down into the opening/gap where the door opens. The bed and I dropped down about four inches. I screamed with pain because of my 12 in*****ision in my gut. To say the least, it WAS NOT a good feeling.
The nurses had to call the maintenance department who then had to get a hydraulic pump to lift the bed out of the hole and get me out of the elevator.
By the time I got back to my room, I was begging for pain medication. I was told it was change of shifts and it would be awhile before I could get some pain meds. The nurses stated they had to count the narcotics before I could be given any pain medication. I told them to just "PICK A NUMBER" and bring me some pain medication!! Everyone in the room started rolling.

I was looking at the humorous things on this message board. After reading your funny post, I decided to check your profile and see how you've done. I'm just waiting for my date!
Well, honey....you need to get an updated pic!
After all the great progress you've made, I'm sure everyone would be inspired by seeing a current pic of you too!
Take care and hope to see a new pic up soon!

Okay, here is a funny... Out of the mouths of babes!
Prior to WLS, while explaining to my daughter my decision and how one day I would be skinny enough to run all around with her, she said... "Mommy, you are already Skinny... you have lots of skin"
I will never forget that one! It still makes me smile.
Here is another out of the mouth of babes story.
My 4-yr.-old son was at the baby-sitter, a friend of hers had stopped by. My little dear was telling her about my operation. After she left the sitters husband told my son he should talk me out of this operation.
My son wheeled around and said, "Listen here buck-o, she has to get some of that weight off of her".
The baby-sitter said she just about rolled in the floor over that one.
