Here is another out of the mouth of babes story. My 4-yr.-old son was at the baby-sitter, a friend of hers had stopped by. My little dear was telling her about my operation. After she left the sitters husband told my son he should talk me out of this operation. My son wheeled around and said, "Listen here buck-o, she has to get some of that weight off of her". The baby-sitter said she just about rolled in the floor over that one.

I've had this "moment" happen at least twice--I've had folks who hadn't seen me since before surgery ask me if I was OK (like they thought I'd had cancer or something!). To me, that was pretty funny!

I was wondering; have any of you ever thought of attending any obesityhelp.com events like conventions and or regional meetings? I was wondering if they were any fun and or what you would expect from them. I have been to other events and conventions but, never to one with obesity help. Do you think it would be fun? I'm hoping this section will be used for humorous things that have happened to us from WLS surgery on...Laughter is the best medicine, of course...and when we laugh at ourselves, we are certainly speeding healing, I think. I'm sure each of us has a funny moment to share. Mine happened the day of my surgery. The afternoon of my surgery when I was back in my room and taking pain medicine...kind of "in and out", I remember my best friend coming in. I was so glad, because I sure wanted someone to talk to. I sure did...one sentence, sleep, half a sentence, sleep, just drift off...you get the picture. She thought it was so funny because I never lost my train of thought, I would always pick up the same sentence where I left off when I would "drift". I was so surprised when I woke up for real and she had already left...I was still wanted to finish my conversation and tell her about my dream... Janie/SC
