32 years old...426 pounds...and Dying...what do I do?
Since age 21 I have gained 252 pounds. I have tried diet after diet and aside from a small weight loss when I starved myself, nothing. I excersised the best I could up until a recent injury and now in the past two months another 17 pound!! Lately I have been extreamly depressed and it takes all I have just to get out of bed in the morning and come to work. This depression is wearing down on my marraige as well. Needless to say I am lost! I was dianosed as Hypothyroid in 2000 and I also have a condition called PCOS diagnosed in 2005. To be honet, I still have not figured out what either of these truly mean. I take Levothroid and Glochophuage and recently have begain to take a daily vitamin. I'm trying, but I need help. I need someone in a simular boat to talk to. Someone with a few answers. A support group would be great. I honestly feel that if I don't make a change I will be dead before age 40. Please help me if you know how, or point me in the direction of someone or a support group that can.

Thats the website for my surgeon's office. I used Dr Hart. he is just awesome. They are located in John's Creek so it will be a litle bit of a drive but worth it in my opinion. Their support group meetings are held at Emory Johns Creek Hospital. The bariatric coordinator there - Rita - is awesome and she checks in around here on OH as well. That one is the 2nd wed of the month.
Also, there is a general support group held in Lawrenceville on the last saturday of the month at a bowling alley.
You are making the right choice to put your hand out for help and there are many people here and at the support group meetings that are here for you. You can get through this. it won't be easy but we are here to help you through it.

If you are not going to have weight loss surgery, you might want to try Overeater's Annonymous. They are free. They have meetings all over the place and you might find support there. Some meet everyday and can help you with cravings and food adictions.
Otherwise, I honestly think you should try to find a Weight Loss Surgeon in your area or make the drive to a bigger city in GA (like Atlanta, Savannah, etc.) to get the help you want. I'm sure you've realized that worrying is going to make you lose weight, avoiding it isn't fixing the problem. Nobody forced you to eat, we each did this to ourselves and we each have to find the strength within us to fix it. That means facing our eating issues head on, seeing a surgeon and comitting to following whatever guidelines they give us after surgery.
Say goodbye to feeling sorry for yourself. You can fix this. You can change your whole life around. All you have to do is want to be healthy more than you want to eat those comfort foods you enjoy.
Good luck.
Don't get too stress, there is so much help out there for us!
