I finally got the call from the insurance company social worker to arrange the appointments for the Evaluation and counseling sessions. I am required to have one evaluation and 6 counseling sessions, each a month apart, to qualify for surgery. I have the Dr.s appointment to start my 6 month diet next week. Maybe it will all work out on the same schedule and I will be eligible for surgery by August. Yea! Though I wanted it to happen during the summer since I am a teacher, but I have waited so long I will take it when I can get it.

Congrats on the start of your journey. I assume you are a state employee, since you teach? Why are they requiring 6 mos counselling. I only have to do the 6 mos diet?

I think the 6 month counseling is part of the UHC plan, please correct me if I'm wrong.

You are correct. It is part of the United Health Care HRA. I have had the UHC insurance for 7 years and have been happy with their service so I didn't want to try another carrier.

I don't know but I also have to do six month doctor visits and I have BCBS PPO of Texas I think its the insurance just really not wanting to pay for it so they think if they put us through 6 months of crap we will change our minds not me.

. I have been trying to save enough to self pay, but money is so tight, it is really hard. Just as long as I get to the losers side of this battle before 2010 gets here. This is my goal and I am sticking to it!

I am a teacher too. I have the same insurance as you and I got started on my 6 months counseling and diet last month. It is a bunch of hoops to jump through, but I will do what it takes. Good luck.

Well, I saw the doctor and started the diet today. I will get my Psychiatrists Evaluation Thursday. I am on my way!
