Compression garments... do they really help?
This is something I posted in a separate message thread.....
The one I have is from the top of the knees to over the shoulders. It's a body stocking from the knee to the hip area, then over the stomach and up the ribcage is a double lining of the compression material. It hooks in the front with eye clasps (the same clasps that are on a bra). There are about 40 - 50 of them....so they're pretty durable.
Unfortunately I have decided to return mine because the first one I tried was calf lenght - but it rolled up and would gather behind my knees....which had me concerned about clots. I changed it to the knee length one...but it also seems to be rolling and I have too high of a risk in my family to develop clots....
I have tried others.....and none really felt as good as this did. I had to evaluate wether or not it would be worth keeping this and risking a different prbolem later on.....so that is why i've decided to return it!
If they cover them after a panni - then I'll get one then....but for now I"m not going to worry about it!
Cheryl,
Ladies now let me tell you a few things!!!!!
I live in my compression garments, I remember when I was down about 75lbs and I was walking through Sams Club, my stomach was moving around all over the place!!!It was a different moving around then usual, I can't even describe it, lets just say that it was not pretty! I have two items that I will not leave the house without......
1. Breezies control briefs- They sell them on QVC, but they are quite pricy, so I buy mine on Ebay! I have worn them going on 2 years, and I will not leave the house without them on. They are comfortable and feel like you don't have alot of control but you really do!
2. Lipo in a Box- Yes, this is the name of the garment. Now you can order through QVC, they have their own website. Let me just say, that I love love love love it. It too is a bit pricy, but when you are denied for the Plastic Surgery that we so desperately need (like I was) It is worth it. It is actually a one piece garment that goes just above the knees. It is so light weight that you truly feel that it won't possibly work, well it does! It even has an underwire bra in it, and it comes up under the arms to cover the underarm fat that NEVER goes away even when you hit your goal weight, you know what I am talking about, the stuff that falls out the sides of our bras! Now let me just say, that I am a person that won't even wear panty hose because it drives me crazy and makes me itch, but I can wear this thing all day long! ( Honestly, I think that they should pay me to be a spokesperson! I might even do it for free, if could get paid with free stuff!) Anyway, the best part of it is, is that you don't have to take it off to pee! It has a very genorous opening in the crotch area, and even though you feel like you could petentially make a mess, you never do!
Okay, Okay, see what happens when I get to talking about Lycra!

Wow, Cathy!!! Thank you for the information! Guess what I want for Valentine's Day? Do you have to wash them by hand, or will the delicate cycle do the job? Can you use the dryer on delicate cycle, or would you recommend line drying? Thank you for sharing your wisdom!!! You rock, Girlfriend!
Hugs,
Becky
Becky,
Well I learned from trial and error that hand washing is best. When you get the Breezies, they come with this little mesh bag that you can wash them in, but after awhile they tend to look kinda icky. They are made with this stuff called Ultimair and they dry really quickly. I am not to sure about the delicate cycle, but I am sure you could try it. One thing I forgot to mention on those underwear, they have High-cut and Brief. For God's sakes get the BRIEFS!!! High cut is just not meant to be worn by someone who has lost a great deal of weight and has that little apron of skin hanging on our tummys! As far as the Lipo in a Box, It actually does say to hand wash and hang dry, whatever the heck it is made of dries really fast. Oh and I forgot to mention that it is really soft, not in a silky kind of way, but more a brushed softness, it just feels great.I must say for total disclosure, even with all of my stuff on, I still have a tummy bulge. I will say that I guess that I look okay in clothes, we all are our own worst critcs you know. But, my husband can't keep his hands off me, so I guess I am doing something right! Good luck on your quest for a ripple free, panty line free, bulge free body!

Hi Cheryl,
I think I was one of about half a dozen or more from Alabama who purchased one of the Slender Body garments by Slender Touch. I had to go with the full body one because I have larger thighs and the shorter one would have hit me in a place that would show through my pants. I tried on a large at first and saw very little difference. The lady wanted me to try a medium so I did. I could tell a big difference. She even made me try it on with her tiny little black stretch pants so I could tell more, cause my pants were a little loose. I would never in a million years wear those legging type pants she had on, but they sure didn't look too bad with the garment on.
I didn't wear it that night because I was ovulating and have terrible bloating and cramps then. I did put it on first thing yesterday and wore it most of the day. You could definately tell a difference in my clothes. I was able pee just fine with the garment on. However, I did have to use the restroom otherwise and needed to remove it. It really was no big deal to get back on. It took maybe 2 minutes. I washed mine in the washer today on delicate and am hanging to dry.
I do have other compression garments which I used when I had liposuction on my legs almost 10 years ago. They really don't give near the support these garments do. I thought they were very pricey, but will keep me from having to buy another garment if I have other plastics.
I will let you know in a week or two if I think it was really worth the price.

Does anyone know how long after surgery you should wait to use a compression garment? I know people use them after lipo suction to help the skin reattach after the procedure so it makes sense that it would work for Bariatric patients as well.
Can someone post a website? I tried to look for slender touch but didn't have any luck.
Morning Kim.
They did not have a website listed on the brochure. I called the numbers listed; cell 754/367-0927 home 954/433-3226. The distributors name is Christina Macias. She is spanish and let me tell you J'Lo had nothing on her!! She wore a black stretch pants with the compression garment on that made her waist look 10 inches wide. She is an amazing person and just plain beautiful.
She will help you in anyway she can.

Hi everyone. Just wanted to say thanks for all the info. You guys are great!!! I'll look forward to some of you posting more a bit later. Sound like it would be a good 'investment' in myself. I'm interested in knowing how soon after surgery you can wear these. And I'll definitely look into the Lipo in a Bag kind.
