Hey guys - do any of you know if Dr Proctor requires a certain weight loss prior to surgery? and When I finish up the dieticin thing in June realisticly how long does it take to get approved after you get all the requirements for the insurance company. My husband has to put in for time off EARLY and I just wondered when we could look to be having the wls, I finish all requirements at the end of June.

HI Erin. I just had surgery w/ dr. procter on the 28th of Feb. My first seminar in his step was Oct. 18th, Consult w/ him on November 18th, several tests scheduled such as sleep study, psyhc eval, and nutritional counseling, etc...through December, last nutritional counseling in Jan. Submitted to insurance Jan 28th, approval on Feb 11th, surgery on Feb 28th. It felt like it went really fast for me.....I don't know if that is the normal or not, but I do remember that at the seminar they said the process usually takes 3-6 months, if nothing complicates. Dr. Procter did not require any wt loss before surgery, but I do believe that he will not do the surgery if you gain....Hope I've helped a little. Good luck.

Hey Erin, I started my journey in Aug. 2004 and had my surgery Dec. 27,2004 with Dr. Proctor. I probably could have had surgery a little sooner but I needed the last week of Dec. for work schedule. Anyhow he didn't require any weight loss before surgery. Hope this is of some help to you. Good Luck with the process. Deana
