Items to buy for coming home
I am only 12 days away. I went to a GNC today and looked around. I have no idea what I will need to have here for when I get home from the hospital.
Can anyone give me suggestions? I am going to try very hard to get in my protein and I know lost of water.
Thanks for any help.
Barb... asking to be remembered in prayers
Hi, Barb...I remember when Derrick came home he mainly drank water, ate some jello and popsicles. He still talks about how GOOD those popsicles were.
So, I would suggest getting some water, sugarfree jellos (already made in the cups so you don't have to bother with making them), some sugar free popsicles, and maybe some broths. He didn't worry about the protein so much the first few days...mainly just worried about keeping stuff down and what he could tolerate. He uses Unjury, and I have to admit...it is GREAT! You can mix the unflavored protein into anything, and it really doesn't change the tast too much. You could mix it into Crystal Light to get in some protein in the beginning. I'm going to start drinking the chocolate with milk to up my protein levels and try to lose this 20 pounds they have told me to lose...not easy.
I will be thinking about you...Good luck on your upcoming adventure.

Hey Stephanie,
Thanks so much for the reply. And the advice
Can you tell me where to buy unjury?
One thing I wanted to tell you, I just read that milk is very high in sugar, even the no fat milk is. If ya can stomach it in water you might be able to lose easier... I don't know but its just a thought. They mix it with water and crushed ice. I read it at the vitalady site.
Best of Luck and good luck to hubby for his continued success too!! How cool to have a support system that has been there and understands completely!
I'm always here if ya wanna chat.
Barb

I second the suggestion of Unjury (available on line; not cheap, but a good product that settles well). I also loved eating sugar free popsicles and jello. When I was able to eat something else, I discovered that I LOVE blueberries, especially frozen and put into a shake with Unjury vanilla. Best of luck to you in your upcoming surgery. Don't forget to stock up on stock (somehow warm liquid seems to taste more like food). Drink away. Relax. Be thankful for your health and the person you are about to become. Be well.
xoxo,
Deborah
Good luck to you on your surgery. Our nutritionist informed us that we could have creamy soups (as long as we strained them) when we got home from the hospital. We would get stuff like cream of chicken or cream of mushroom or even cream of broccoli. We would prepare it and then strain it and pour into ice cube trays and pop them in the freezer. Then about 2 cubes would make a serving. (Of course a lot of people have to be careful with broccoli becasue of the gas.)
We use Supreme Whey Protein made by Dymatize as our protein powder of choice. To me the vanilla tastes almost like a real vanilla milkshake. My wife prefers the Chocolate. I think they make about 6 different flavors. We get ours from a sports medicine office, but you can get it online too.
Again good luck! The new life is wonderful!
