I am one week post op tommorrow. I was fine in the hospital but on my last day there I began to be worn down. I have felt that way ever since. I feel like I live in the bathroom and I am sweating at night. It takes all I have to take a shower, I have to lay down after just a small task. I have heard of so many people that bounce back very quickly after the surgery. Is what I am going thru normal?

It took me several weeks to "bounce" back. When you start getting in more of your protein, you'll feel better! You are definitely normal! Hugs, Becky

I definitely agree with Becky.... while I was back to work and feeling great in 2 1/2 weeks, my first week home, and until I got my drain out was just miserable. Once the drain came out, I felt like a new woman. Give it a little time, and you will begin to feel better soon. Susan Lap RNY 12-1-04 285-200-155 (-85)

You sound just like I was. I would have to nap after taking a shower too! It does get better. Just take lots of naps, watch tv, web surf, etc. At about week 5 you will see a change if you are like I was.

Take your vitamins everyday that helped me a lot and drink a lot of water I ate a lot of watermelon it was the only thing I could eat the first 3 months rest don't try to do anything but go to the bathroom or take a shower you need to rest the first 6 weeks. I was tired too for the first 6 months! It took me that long to feel normal if there is such a thing. You will be fine.

I went back to work 2 weeks out and felt pretty good but didn't have any energy. At the end of my 6th week I all of a sudden felt great so just hang in there, it will get better. I also was burning up for the first few weeks. My surgery was in January and my poor mother was staying with me and she was freezing because I was so hot I kept the heat off but that got better as well. ~Bonnie

Hi! Sorry you've had it rough the past 2 weeks. Did your physician prescribe you vitamin b shots. I had to give myself injections every 2 weeks til I was 3 months out now its once a month, could be your vitamin b level is too low. I'm having problems being really cold so I think its a little bit of my vitamin b level and being over 50. Make sure you're getting your protein and fluids in daily. Hope this helped & welcome to the otherside!
