Wish me luck!
Thanks everyone! The race was a lot of fun!!! My favorite part was somewhere before mile 3 a monk or priest blessed the runners with holy water! My fastest mile was the last...I guess I had a banana with my name on it shouting to me that 6th mile. Piedmont park was huge! DH never would have found me if it weren't for those lettered balloons
I spent almost an hour in the park after I ran. My marathon training group had a tent where I got my grub and I needed to ice my knee. I was amazed to see that the streets were just as packed with runners as it was when I was running. I can feel my legs cramping up again...ugh...need some more yellow fruit.

Thanks Tonya!
The trick is to find a PT that is a runner her/himself. I am currently in PT b/c of IT band syndrome-aka-runner's knee. My girl ran Boston this past year and is on the ATC's competative team. When I got my referral from my PCP I told him to send me to someone who will help me out and NOT tell me to quit running.
I also take glucosamine to help keep the joints healthy.
Thanks again!
AWESOME accomplisment, Sherry!
When did you begin training for this?
Did you train with a group or with a trainer?
Reading these posts by our 2 marathoners just made me realize that I still carry around an assumption about myself, that I couldn't run a block if my life depended on it, based on lugging around 280 lbs.
Even though I work out 5-7X weekly on a recumbent bike for cardio (averaging 21 mph for 30 min.), the thought has literally never crossed my mind to see what running would even feel like.
I want to thank you both for planting the idea in my head!
Lovingly,
