Peachtree Road Race 2005 - I did it & survived!
Hello Everyone! Happy 4th of July!
Well, I did it. I participated in the Peachtree Road Race with dear hubby. I saw that Sherry posted earlier about how well she did (yeah Sherry!), but this was a MAJOR accomplishment for me because I am just 3 1/2 months post op with only two really good months of training. Granted, my time wasn't anything to be impressed with: I had a goal of jogging/walking in 1:30, but I completed the race in 1:40, so I was only off by 10 minutes. And I have to give much love and appreciation to dh Chris (who is in training for a marathon) for staying with me the whole time....he could have easily left my butt behind and said see you at the balloons!
Needless to say I am quite sore. After a nice warm shower, I immediately hit the
Couldn't really sleep that much...think it was the energy and excitement leftover from the race.
This was one of my major lifetime goals, but I could never do it in years past because of my weight. I am down almost 50 pounds in 3 1/2 months and very excited about my progress. Plus, I just put a line through a major goal off of my "to do" list! Yeah!! As I have see Tami and Becky both say in previous posts: WOOOOOOO "FREAKIN" WHOOOOOOOOOO!
Hoping to see you all next week at the lunch. If you read this, thanks for reading...it was just a way to verbalize my excitement!

You did GREAT!!!!!!!!!!! That's a fantastic time that you achieved too!!!! Did I tell you that you LOOK GREAT?!?!
Keep up the good work!!!! Next 10k you should do is in October...the Buckhead Sizzler is the first sat. of oct and it's FLAT!!! There is also a labor day 10k I am thinking of doing. That one is all up and down.
What marathon is your DH training for? I'm with a training group called Get Fit Atlanta and I'm training for Chicago on Oct 9.
Kudos to you for all the hard work and accomplishments!!!
Sherry
Hi Sherry!
Thanks for your kind, positive words! Can I tell you you are an inspiration to me? I really hope to do as well as you are doing within the next year. Chris and I have the information about the 10k in October...flat would be beautiful! Those hills can really take it out of you.
Chris is training for three different events things right now. He is training with the Jeff Galloway training group (I think that's right), and like you, he is training for the Chicago marathon. He is also planning on running the Atlanta half-marathon (he registered for that before he registered for Chicago), and we are talking about participating in the Walt Disney World half-marathon in January 2006. As long as it's flat, I'll be happy!
Thanks again for your encouragement. I am so sore today, but I think I kinda like this jogging thing! I think I'll try the half marathon first before I set my goal on the full marathon! Good luck in your training...maybe I can be like you next year!!!
