Georgia BCBS FEDERAL PPO - anyone have it AND have the lapband?

My booklet says that the lap band is not covered. I know it's a stretch, but I'm hoping someone here has Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal PPO in Georgia - and they appealed and WON. I need the lap band! I am approved for WLS, but I won't do the RNY-GP... that's a scary procedure! Help!

I know someone who got it approved instead of the bypass through BCBS b/c she had growths inside her stomach...do you have any "physical" problems with your insides that would call for you to get the band?

I too have BCBS Federal PPO I contacted them to find out if if they paid for RYN surgery. I was told that the Gastric was payable under contract. Was informed they DID NOT pay for LAP BAND SURGERY FOR ANY REASON... It was not covered under contract at all. Sorry You might want to contact BCBS they will tell you what is payable and what is not, my contract might be different than yours. I do know for me they will not pay for a LAP. l
