peachy, I have not been on here in over a year so I am just no finding this post about the PTC meeting.  I live in Sharpsburg and would love to attend.  When and where is the next meeting?  Is Fitness Spa the one next to the dental office?

I had my DS surgery Oct. 25, 2008 and have maintained a loss of about 185 lb. For a year after surgery I was extremely ill and spent 3 weeks in the hospital plus all kids of tests. Eventually Dr. Smith did exploratory surgery and discovered my stomach and liver had fused.  He fixed that and I have eaten like a horse ever since, been healthy and maintain my weight around 155.  My highest weight was 340.  My life has changed in so many ways since wls!!!

I look forward to connecting with local wls folks!

Topic: Recommendation for a Revision dr. in Atlanta
Can anyone recommend a doctor who does RNY revision? I already have approval from my insurance, but Dr. Burrowes wants to charge me $5,500 out of pocket (even though I have secondary insurance). Surely there is someone in Atlanta who can do the RNY without trying to gouge me. (I have two insurances...the first one approved me, the second said they would pick up the rest....why do I have to pay you $5,500 that I dont' have?)

 Quick update

First off thank you for all the prayers and nice words and I am sorry I have been so distant from OH.  I am home and have not had to stay overnight in hospital since June.  I continue to have EDG dilatations done every two weeks by doctor in Georgia the trip to TN was rough.  I pray I will not need more dilation.  I have lost a total of 84 lbs since surgery and 90 lbs total I am very pleased.  I have had to make several trips to emergency room due to dehydration, magnesium, and potassium.  On a positive note I have not had problems with dehydration since they put me back on TPN I have a nurse that come out and draw my labs weekly.  I am having a lot of problems eating since I do not have a stomach anymore and continue to get sick when I eat.  Some days things appear to be better and on other days it seems worst.  I am a baby having to start over but at least I am alive.  I believe that I am growing stronger as time goes by and is going to just have to be patient.  I hope that I the doctors allow me to return to work soon.  Well I think I said everything.  If anyone has questions to ask or wisdom to share feel free to respond.  Again thank you all.

Topic: RE: SHBP State of GA Employees Call to Action!!!
Hey Tiff,

Apparently OH is willing to join in on this fight and advocate on behalf
of state employees.   Email Cathy at the link I provided and hopefully she will get back with you.

I agree, just because you already got you wls doesn't mean you shouldnt pay it forward and fight for those who will need it iin the future.

As a state of GA employee, whose surgery was covered via the insurance that I pay for EVERY month, I was saddened to hear that coverage for 2012 has been taken away.  Tell me what I need to do.........  Are we writing letters?  Are we visiting people in the big offices:)????, WHAT????  I know that coverage is VITAL for so many out there, and it is SO unfair to remove it after only 3 years (has it been that long since the state even STARTED covering it?).

I agree with Lashelle.  Those of us who have already had surgery (ESPECIALLY those who are SHBP) should REALLY stand up for this......

So whats the plan?

Topic: RE: potential bad news for state employees & teachers in 2012
I am so torqued about this..so much so that it pulled me out of lurkdom.   I am going to make the date by the skin of my teeth..I have completed the 6 month requirement but I had to change docs which set me back a month or two.

The thing that boggles my mind is the insurance now covers tobacco cessation but no weight loss assistance.  Yet, if overweight people (and smokers)  don't reach goals set by the SHBP the premium will go up.
