Topic: Climbing the Mountain
I had my surgery a little over 6 months ago. I have a crazy busy job so getting in regular exercise was not happening during the school year. Now that it is summer time I have been about to get out and about a little more. Last week I clilmbed Stone Mountain for the first time in 4 years. It was tough, but I made it up. Then on the way down I had a blast. I was jumping from rock to rock and just marveling at what my "new" body could do. I climbed it again this week and it was easier the second time. For those of you in the Atlanta area, I highly recommend this activity. I do have a few tips for you though. First, drink a protein shake before you climb. Pack a protein bar and stop on the way up for a quick bite. Bring lots of water and make sure you drink it. Eat more protein bar at the top and take your time cooling off before you head back down. The first time I didnt pack a snack and I was really shaky at the top, taking the protein bar really helped. Go with a friend who wont mind you having to take breaks, it is a steep mountain so pace yourself and just have fun. It is $10 to get into the park for one day, or $35 for an annual pass. That is per car so the more friends you take the cheaper it is per person. I also recommend climbing in the morning or early afternoon as you climb the west side of the mountain and it just gets hotter as the day goes on. I know this is random, but I really hate traditional work outs and I thought maybe some of you do as well. This was fun, but definitely a big work out.

Thank you, any ideas are appreciated. I was told today that I may be lactose intolerance so I will have to work on that.
Thanks again
Thanks again

once you have clearance to non-clear liquids from your Dr. then you may want to consider room temperature water with crystal light powder and skim milk if you aren't lactose intolerant. I lived on warm low sugat hot chocolate made with powdered skim milk for a few weeks to get my liquids in. It gets easier. Congratulations on starting your WLS adventure!!!

Thanks, what I am scared off is that I have chronic acid reflux and anything with fruits in it will trigger it, so I am scared of trying those. But hey, I sure will give it a try a little at the time.

Try sucking on some SF Popsicles. It gives you fluids and tastes good too. Popsicles made my new pouch feel better.
Good luck!

Hello everyone;
I just had my Roux-en-Y rhia Wednesday 29, everything went better than I expected. However, I am not able to dring the whole amount of 4 oz liquid.It has been three days and I am getting 2 oz and I feel that I am going to blow up,extremelly full (bloated) and I am not hungry. I supposed to be drinking every hour 4 oz and I had been taking down 2oz and waiting over 1 1/2 to 2 hours to eat again. I have been trying to sip water and keep my self hydrated. But my concern is that while I am getting the fluid down it is hurting a little right on the stomach. Is this something unusual? Does anyone knows?
I am seeing my doc next Tuesday.
Please let me know,
MDD

For housing, you may want to check out the Hospitality House: www.hospitalhospitalityhouse.org/programs.html
My husband stayed there free of charge during my five-day hospital stay---though mostly he was in the room with me.
The ride isn't bad at all. I always return on the same day of my appointments, stopping at the outlet mall on the way back for a bit of shopping and dining. Some use their own cars, but I get a rental because there are a lot of mountains.
Good luck!

Oh LaShelle, you're so good to organize this! I wish I could attend, but alas I will be in preparation for my arm lift (yipee)!
