You need to speak with your surgeon to see if he will accept clearances from someone else. Many surgeons have specialists they have close relationships with and will only allow you to use them.

At any rate, if Medicaid is paying for your surgery $300 for a psych clearance is a small price to play considering the hardworking taxpayers out here are covering the rest.

Perhaps taking a little accontability and personal responsibitity financially and otherwise in the process will be beneficial and make you more appreciatave of the procedure.

As for travel to the specialists' offices, would you expect Medicaid to cover the cost of this as well?

The state of GA won't even cover wls for it's overworked, underpaid employees, but is still covering it for welfare recepients. Oh the irony!

Be grateful you are getting any help at all. Or get a job and private insurance and you can go to whatever surgeon you'd like. GROW UP!

Topic: Dr. Glass in Augusta..need help

Hello everyone I live in Glennville, Ga and have to travel to Augusta to see Dr. Glass. I went to the pre consultation and attended a short classroom discussion about the surgeries offered at Trinity bariatrics. I do have a few questions about the process though especially because I have Medicaid. I want to get the Gastric bypass because my insurance wont pay for the Sleeve but I am still unsure if I even want to go through with surgery although I am thinking its needed....anyway sorry to get off topic. My question to everyone is do I have to see certain Doctors my doctor tells me too. They have three or four other doctors they want me to see but it is an aweful long drive and my insurance wont cover one of them. Doctor Stapleton is the Doctor they want me to see for my Psych evaluation but her office says its $300 and she does not take Medicaid at all. Could I see another Psychiatrist and get it done? Sorry for the confusion I will try and write an update later when I am feeling better.

I HAD MY SURGERY IN AUGUSTA GA. I HAVE BLUE CROSS / BLUE SHIELD SC PPO. IT IS BACKED BY MEDICARE, I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY PAY FOR SURGERY. I HAD MEET MY DEDUCTABLE. DR. M BLANEY DID MY SURGERY. HE IS GOOD.

I had my stress test yesterday and I had the results in my hand and they were faxed to Dr Johnson's office before I left the cardio dr. Good luck on your 6 months. My appt with the surgeon is on the 20th of this month and OMG cant get here fast enough.
