What's the normal day like as far as vitamins/protein/water?
I know each doctor has their separate set of protocols they follow so i can tell you what I do but it may differ from what your doctor has you do.
I take
2 multi-vitamins a day....chewables
2 Calcium Citrates a day......chewables
4 fiber supplements a day......chewables
1 prescription vitamin D supplement per week....pill
1 vitamin A supplement per day.....pill
1 pepcid ac a day....pill
2 500 IU Vitamin B12 DOTS once a week
on fluids, I get well over 100 ounces in a day however when you're first out, you'll be lucky to get 40 ounces in. it took me a long time to get my water in. Also, when you are first post op, get a PILL CRUSHER LOL That will save you from having to chop up pills that the hospital gives you!
On the protein front, I get anywhere between 70 - 80 grams a day given my activity level. If your activity level is really high (and we're talking 1 to 2 hours of heart pumping cardio per day for 7 days a week) then you would need to bump up your protein to over 100 grams a day.
I hope this helps :)
This is on a "normal" day...
In the morning:
Centrum chewable
B-12 - 500 mcg (sub-lingual)
Calcium citrate - 500 mg w/Vitamin-D - 250 IU
Late afternoon/evening:
Centrum Chewable
Vitron-C (Iron 200 mg -- w/Vitamin C 125 mg )
Calcium citrate (not taken same time as Iron!)
For the first 6 months post-op, my surgeon has all patients take:
Omeprazole - 20 mg (same as Pepcid) to neutralize stomach acids
Ursodiol - 300 mg (twice daily) to prevent gallstones
Water:
I try to get in 64 oz. daily, but it's a struggle so most days I get in about 40 oz.
Protein:
60 - 90 grams daily, usually with the help of a protein shake or bullet
Morning: Liquid calcium & Magnesium supplement (Tropical Oasis, actually tastes good)
Afternoon: 2 chewable multi-vitamins
1 B12 sublingual vitamin
Evening: 2 chewable multivitamins
My protein goal every day is 110 grams, though I have a hard time reaching it. I usually hit around 80.
My Water goal is 80 ounces, but I usually reach between 60 and 70.
Still trying, though!

Hi Christy:
The link above is for Kaiser's "workbook". They've added B1 since this book was out.
Yes every doctor is different. The one thing I actually learned on here that is easy for me to use as a mantra is:
60/60/60
60 grams of protein a day
60 ounches of water
60 minutes of excercise
now I usually do more than that at this point, but it's a good base point.
As for vitamins
2 Centrum chewables a day (taken at two different times during the day because you'll just pee most of the nutrients out if you take both.)
4 bariatric advantage lozenges a day (again at 4 different times during the day and not two hours before or after my iron)
27mg iron taken in the afternoon 2 hours after and before my next calcium lozenge.
B12 sublingual in the morning (a total of 2000 mcg a week).
B1 1000 mg a day.
I really hope this helps!
Like what everyone is saying, each doctor is different...this is my regiment.
Morning 6am
Prilosec 1 pill (daily)
B-12 1 pill (daily) sublingual
Calcium - 1 pill (petite) 3x day
Vitamin B - 1 pill (every 2-3days)
10am
Flinstones multivitamin
Noon
Calcium
Evening
Calcium
Flinstones multivitamin (2 hours later)
Now that I'm able to eat more, my doctor wants me to eat 4 - 5 2oz meals while still getting in at least 60 oz of water and 60g of protien. I've been drinking Isopure protien drinks that come in about 6 different flavors, my favorites are grape & fruit punch. I get these at GNC
What is the best fiber supplement to take, chewables would be great, also I saw that a few of you are taking either chewable calcium, what type and where have you found it would be great.
Anyway, you have a lot of info, but it really just depends on what your doctor wants to you do...good luck, and I'm so excited for you!
2 centrum multivitamins (chewable)
2 calcium (chewable)
1 B12 sublingual
1 iron supplement
I also take protonix and carafate (for ulcers)
I try to get in a gallon of water a day, and my protein between 100-120 a day.Obviously some days are easier than others when it comes to this.
