I need to buy a bathing suit

We are planning on taking our kids to an indoor water park next week. School is out for the week and it's been so flippen cold ....this sounds awesome!

My 9 yr old is a some what good swimmer. She gets nervous which gets me nervous. Basically, I'm the Mom at the beach that stands at the edge of the water watching her every move in panic. LOL!

So if we are going to go to a water park ..I'm going to be right there with her. And it's not just her I'm thinking about. I really want to do this for ME.

I love water parks, amusement parks (I love roller coasters) but I haven't done any of this in YEARS! IF I wore a bathing suit I wore shorts and a tank top over it. (and yes I would go swimming like that). In my head I was hiding my fat ...yeah right!

Even though it's still painfully cold and STILL winter all of the stores around here have the bathing suits out. I've peeked. I've cried a little. And I've stood there in confusion. I've held up different sizes and I need either a medium OR a small .

But I'm not sure what to get. A one piece might hold in some skin a little better. Then I was thinking a tankini. The bottom part is "boy short" style with a halter top style top. The bottoms would probably look better because of the skin in the thigh area. Definitely not a bikini .

Gosh, do you men think like this too? LOL! I'm so not going to let this get me down though. I've been having a lot of issues with body image but screw it. It's not like I'm going there to be some sexy super model. It's a kids water park. I'm going to be a confident Mom giggling like a 10 yr old as we go down those slides.

I used to wear the longest shorts i could find and a t-shirt to swim.  I recently started swimming again, so I had to go buy a new pair of trunks, and it took me forever to find one, mainly because I didnt want it to go to my knees, but still I didnt want it to be short either, cause my thigh skin is so not pretty LOL  But I now go swimming without the t shirt, so that's progress...  Hope you have lots of fun at the water park!!!

Whatever you choose, you are going to look fantastic! I would suggest going a little smaller rather than larger on the size and just find something that makes you smile! I remember always choosing black or dark colors thinking that would trick people into thinking I was slim. LOL When I'm ready to get my swimsuit, it's going to have bright colors. I tend to like one-piece but that's just me. I like ones with pick-a-boo holes cut out, like on the sides or with mesh. They cover but are really sexy too....oh, wait... kids water park... oh, hell you're going to look sexy no matter what you wear, might as well strut it hot, girlfriend!

Oh, and a picture for your friends would be nice.

There is a wonderful line of suits called Miraclesuits.  They are comfortable, but provide some holding in power of issue spots.  They claim they make you look 2 sizes smaller, but they really smooth everything out and stay in place for active things.  We are big waterpark people and have season passes every summer.  I have wore these as a big girl and will look for one soon as I shrink!   I hate having to tug my straps or worry about popping out of a swimsuit!  I like a suit that stays put!  Good luck!  Have fun!

I am wanting to get a bikini for just the hubby and I at our pool and laying out just to get the sunshine, not a tan. I am right there with ya sister! I have to get a new suit for public use. I have no idea what size or what color or anything. I want something to hold everything in but still cute. Good luck to us in one of the cool decision we have to make now!

I haven't been to a beach or anything in years. I was always afraid that someone might harpoon me...lol But, I have been thinking about getting a Tankini for after I lose my weight. We have a water park resort here, and I would love to go..

I hope you have a great time, and no matter what kind of bathing suit you buy, you'll look beautiful...

 Hi.
I swim 4-5 times a week.
I buy my suits from Junonia which is a large size company. I take a 5x now.
However they have a large range of sizes from L to 6x.
I have no idea what size L is. (maybe too big for you now)
But the suits are high quality, and come in various designs including tankini thru 1 piece with long arms and knee length legs, zip up the front.

I actually just bought one today from Costco.  I have been avoiding taking my grandsons to the pool because I need to go in with them, and well, how good can you look in a size 3X swimsuit.
But today I bought an 18.  Its Janzten, and it has a nice blue pattern top with a very flattering cut, tight around the bust, then flares out nicely like those baby doll tops.  Then the bottom is a little black scort (I think that's what they're called, basically a bottom with a little skirt over top?)
All in all its quite cute, my legs are gross with lots of loose skin, but hey, I'm a gramma.  And its an 18 people!  An 18!!!!!!!!!!!!  Last summer I wore a 3X to the beach.

So Brooke, you go and strut your stuff in that Small or Medium.  Try the tankinis, they are quite flattering.
